Like a well-oiled machine: very organised, good safety briefing, and great value for money. And the canoe is so fun, highly recommend!

Ken's local knowledge is the secret ingredient to his jetboat guided tours on the awa, with plenty of history and stories thrown in . We really enjoyed our walk up to the Bridge to Nowhere. What a super special place to visit.Would love to return and use the little campground at Pipiriki as a base for further exploration.Seeing the awa valley from Ken's jet boat was a truly magical part of our Forgotten World Adventures 'Rhine of the Pacific' Tour.

We did the 5-day canoeing down the river. What a great trip with the support from Taumarunui Canoe Hire. We both never canoed before but we were confident after the briefing and practice they provided. Instructions to get through rapids were clearly marked in the maps they provided in the waterproof bag. They are professional and efficient and friendly all at the same time.

The Flying Fox, Retreat Accommodation on the Whanganui River
My partner and i booked a canoe package in tui - the tiny house - we had a perfect stay - i must mention that i was impressed at how imaculately clean the place is for an eco sanctury - not a spider in sight indoors - that's impressive! , we didn't get to do the canoe trip because of the weather so we did the river road by car instead , We had a bit of catering in our package too breakfast and a packed lunch - we were so impressed with all the food , it was so fresh and tasted beautiful because they grow everything themselves including making the jams for breakfast and the portion size is humungous , so worth spending the little extra money to get that service - was a lovley treat, Such amazing host's were really friendly welcoming and had some great advice on hotspots to visit along the river , they have some very interesting and entertaining photo's , really made us feel welcome and we didn't want to leave.... i managed to capture a picture of a deer grazing from the kitchen window of our accomodations , it was such an amazing special place , we will be back for sure.

Taumarunui Canoe Hire & Jet Boat Tours
I had the unfortunate experience of booking a kayak tour with this business a while ago and cannot get over it. It was hands down the worst outdoor excursion I've ever had. I cannot stress enough how disappointed and angry I am with the services provided by taumarunui canoe hire.First and foremost, the condition of the kayaks was abysmal. They were worn-out, cracked, and clearly not maintained properly. It felt like I was paddling in a sinking bathtub rather than a sturdy kayak. I had serious concerns about my safety and the safety of others in the group, but the guide brushed off our worries without a care in the world.Speaking of the guide, their lack of professionalism and expertise was astonishing. It was evident from the moment they arrived late and disheveled that they were ill-prepared for the day's activities. They had zero knowledge about the river's currents or any points of interest along the way. It was like they were just winging it, with no regard for the experience they were supposed to provide. What aggravated the situation even more was the complete absence of any safety instructions or briefing. I've been on numerous guided tours before, and it's standard practice to provide participants with basic information on how to handle emergencies or navigate tricky situations. But it seemed like thwy couldn't care less about our safety. It was a recipe for disaster!! Will not recommened.

WOW, a wonderful amazing unique stay. I surprised my partner with the canoe package, it was absolutely perfect gift for his birthday. Kelly and Jane are excellent hosts, who made our stay an awesome experience. Great hospitality, delicious food and wonderful sleeps in the Gypsy Cart. Plus the canoeing down the Whanganui River was relaxing, enjoyable and it was wonderful to see the river and the surrounding land at a leisurely pace. We are looking forward to our next stay.
