Egmont National Park
Magical at any time of year. Best to view in winter of course but summer is still pretty impressive. Great climbing tracks with sensational views on a clear day.

Wilsons Abel Tasman
Fantastic experience, with extremely qualified guides. The lodges are wonderful, and the food was great. This was the best way to see the national park. We did a 3-day walk/kayak trek, and it was the highlight of our entire trip.

Styx Mill Conservation Reserve
Great parkland area to take the dogs for a walk. We walked the trails through the park enjoying the riverside views and the birdlife that was at home on the ponds. Nice easy walk for about and hour. A part of the trail is a loop but we went to the end of the other trail too then returned back the same way. We also let the dogs have a run off leash in the very good dog park. They had a good play with other dogs and we met some nice fellow dog owners.

Great national park. Spent a day around Cape Farewell and half day at Farewell Spit. Plenty of walks, tramps to do. Not so many people.

Mangorei Track Trailhead
Strange having wooden slats all the way up, caught toes a few times. The climb was worth it though. Coming down not so enjoyable as needed to watch where feet were going.

Mt Sunday Summit
We arrived on a sunny day and the view from the top of Mt Sunday is one of the best views I have ever seen. An enormous area of flat land surrounding Mt Sunday and a ring of mountains in the distance, it is truly majestic. We also stayed at the lodge nearby which was very convenient as its a bit of a drive, the road to get there is mostly gravel, its long and rough but is totally worth the journey.
