Wonderful gallery and great service and help. Mike Geers, the owner/director, is really gracious, knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with. We bought a ceramic piece when the gallery was in Devonport many years ago, and were delighted to find it again in Takapuna this summer (2024). We bought a wonderful vertical piece with wire, copper and turquoise that resonates with our feelings about NZ's colors and vibrancy. The piece just arrived today in the USA. We love it and highly recommend the gallery--great location and really interesting and diverse collection.

High Country Salmon
Has a great range of salmon products at reasonable prices. The hot smoked salmon are the best.Outside the cafe, kids (and adults as well) can grab some fish food to feed the salmon.

Buller Gorge Swing Bridge
Nzs longest swing bridge... definitely worth a stop. Looks small from the road but go in and explore - bridge is quite an experience... nice bush walk and history on the other side.

Olveston Historic Home
Olveston is a must see for lovers of old houses and the history they tell. The furnishings were amazing and the design of the house included some surprisingly modern facilities. The garden was also beautiful.

Snakes and Ladders Park
Such a fun place to bring the kids. The have a couple sets of dice loads of Ladders and slides. At the bottom are a couple swings, a bike rack/pram parking and seats.

Central Park
This is a great park close to the city walk from upper Willis St. to Brooklyn you need to be reasonably fit if you do the walk, very peaceful with lots of birds and there is a play area by the tennis Centre.

Cowans Hill Walkway
We did this on our bikes and it was quite tough for younger ones on their bikes. A couple of uphill climbs and some with loose gravel/rocks. We started the track near the bridge on the state highway. The views are brilliant and there’s a nice rest point at the lions seat. The track from the lions seat is mostly downhill to the main state highway. There is a short part of this track which involves cycling on the road so just be mindful with younger kids.
