Awesome location, awesome outdoor bath, but expensive and the kitchen equipment and setup sucked (burnt old pan, world's smallest and most hard to get to bin, dishwasher that didn't even fit the dinner plates) and a few other small but important things (shower head holder broken)

I enjoyed my stay!Bulls is located a nice distance between Wellington and Auckland, and gave us a chance to get to Auckland comfortably in one day after arriving in Wellington on the ferry. So I'd recommend the location for people on the same journey.The lodge was very tidy, with a great garden, and some cool cats casually hanging about. Beds were very comfy, and everything that we could have needed was at hand.The host Rhys was really friendly, and welcomed us after a last minute booking as we arrived late at night, just before the office closing time at 10pm.I'd definitely recommend staying here!

The accomodation itself is okay, however many problems. I’ve suddenly started getting these weird markings on my body which I’m going to assume are from bed bugs. Also really surprising how sometimes cleaners would come in without knocking. However what tipped me off was I happened to forget my room keys inside my room and called the service desk. I apologised for calling at such a late time past their usual hours (it was 11 going to 12). However, they rudely said straight after “do you know what time it is” which I was completely aware of and apologetic for, but there was clearly a lack of understanding on their behalf. I’ve never been to a motel where they were upset with a customer forgetting their keys in their room as a one time thing.Overall, I kept saying sorry but as it was urgent, I had to call. They then threatened and said that they will charge us the next time this happens, really poor customer service, why work in one when you can’t be a decent person.

Not clean...blankets smell and look dirty, mouldy toilet, dust everywhere. Looks like it hasn't had a good clean ever. Seats had stains and marks on, also looks like they have never been cleaned. Looks nothing like the pictures advertised. Walls and windows had dirty marks on, pretty much dirty all round.

5 of us stayed for 3 nights over summer and this was a great spot.Really nice hosts, large kitchen / lounge area, big porch with outdoor couch, lots of animals and just a 10 minute drive to Whitianga town centre.Would definitely stay here again.

Great destination. Well equipped, clean and modern. We love the dog friendly sites too.Amenities always clean and kitchen well equipped. Everything is well appointed too and the bonus is the beautiful hot pool!! Staff are all friendly and the shop is great for all sorts that we’d forgotten! Will def return

We had a great weekend here in a lovely little cabin. A nice room, perfect location right next to the white sanded beach. The staff were friendly and made an effort to chat especially Murray and the toilets/showers and the kitchen were super clean. I highly recommend - especially for summer and especially for families with children.

It’s been a month and my partner and I can’t stop talking about this as an absolute highlight of our honeymoon. While you could use it as a base to explore the amazing Catlins, I would suggest just… staying there. It was so peaceful and luxurious. Definitely order a dinner basket, it was insanely good, and then pour yourself a wine and sit in the hot top and marvel at how lucky you are to be there.

Stayed here in October 2017Great little motor Lodge for your first night in New Zealand. We flew in to Auckland, arriving in the evening and needed a place to sleep for the night. Although the room was very old in style it was kept extremely clean and it looked like the shower had been recently updated. They also supply you with a small bottle of milk.The host was very helpful and showed us the room and when to park when we checked in.
