Fine dining restaurant

Thank you for the most amazing dining experience! The whole evening was perfect from start to finish! From first walking in, first impressions were great. I loved the overall vibe, the music was chilled, and the simplicity of the decor with the brightly coloured wall hanging was just beautiful. We were warmly welcomed and our service from Aby was exceptional, he was friendly, had time for us and was generally a top guy (who is great at singing 'happy birthday!'). The food was out of this world, we had a main course each and dessert. All the vegetables are fresh, organic and grown on site and you can taste this in the quality of the the food. I thought the bright colours on the plate from the great selection of veggies was fun and was a nice touch alongside the of course amazing taste of the food of itself. The chef is also clearly very talented! Desserts were like no desserts we had ever tasted. My friend and I had the rosemary creme brulee and deconstructed lemon pie, both wonderful. Lastly, I would like to compliment Aby on his cocktail making skills! The espresso martini is delish and involves a special, unique twist compared to a regular one. I can highly recommend, thanks again!

Most probably the worse Indian meal I have every had.I tried the vegetarian roghan josh, I think it would have tested nicer out of a jar from the supermarket and the heat strength was delivered medium after I asked for hot.Had to ask twice for our drinks that came ten minutes after our starters.The manager was arguing with a staff member in the restaurant...never good!Tables either side of me were also complaining about their lack of service or wrong orders!3 people at my table and 2 thought the meal poor and 3 thought the service was dreadful.Never again!

Delicious food, more in the high price range, but definately worth it for a special occasion. Atmosphere was great until two rowdy lads sat in the table next to us (tables are quite close together) and weren't aware of how loud their voices were. The Solero cocktail was on point, the Mac and cheese & seared scallops sides a must. Rib eye delicious!

If you're looking for a dining experience that's both elegant and delicious, look no further than Sid at the French Cafe! I had the pleasure of attending a fundraising event at this fine establishment, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.From the moment we arrived, we were treated to top-notch service and delectable cuisine. We started off with a welcome cocktail and a selection of canapes, all of which were delightful. But that was just the beginning.As we were ushered inside to our tables, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we would be dining with other couples and groups. This added a fun, social element to the evening, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our fellow diners.And then there was the food. Each course was a masterpiece, expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The Farmed kingfish with miso emulsion, smoked scallop, smoked eel pearls, sweetcorn, lemon myrtle, and finger lime was a standout, as was the Hapuka with crayfish beignets, dry mangosteen, soy jelly, perilla leaf, and pickled onion. And the Wagyu short rib with truffle custard, grilled leek, and macadamia sorrel was nothing short of divine.But let's not forget about dessert. The Chocolate, banana and cardamom parfait, whipped chocolate, blueberry, and elderflower was the perfect end to an incredible meal.Overall, I can't recommend Sid at the French Cafe highly enough. The food is of the highest quality, both in ingredients and presentation, and the taste is simply out of this world. So if you're in the mood for something a little fancier than your usual dining experience, be sure to give Sid at the French Cafe a try. You won't be disappointed!Oh and sorry about the lack of photos, I was caught up in the experience.

Small space. Nice and indulgent hot chocolate drinks. The donut and gelato were really good too.

Atmosphere was lovely and staff were super inviting, interested and friendly. Food was pretty good, but a little lacking oomph, although the presentation was beautiful. It felt like a place that was very focused on being a fine dining establishment with very little portion sizing, but food that lacked substance. Audibly very quiet inside. Tables also seemed a bit close to each other and I could easily hear other couple’s conversations.

Free Range Chef's catering was really fantastic for our wedding. The food was delicious and the staff made it really easy

For $20 cant really complain. Food not exactly hot enough. My daughter found a piece of string in her rice I crunched in a piece of grit. There was a bit of rice in my water glass.

An excellent Indian restaurant . Our meal was fantastic....Personally speaking the Lamb Vindaloo/Jalapeno cheese Naan was perfect and I paired it with a nice glass of Peregrine Saddleback Pinot. At that moment life couldn't get much better.Thanks for a great meal. Highly recommended.

Great food,good serviceElegant decor. Lots of people dining there so, it must be the place to go on Dunedin. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and return next time I'm in town.
