Learned something about NZ history and admired some Maori carvings at the entrance, it's a very nice tidy private space like an outdoor museum.

5 stars on the proviso that this is accomodation with personality! You will not find anything corporate and anonymous - you will find some of the most interesting and amusing places to stay. We stayed in the train carriage for the first 2 nights and in the vestry for the last night. The train was the best as the convent had thin walls but both were very cool and quirky places to stay. You can pretend you’re taking a steam train journey or that you are a nun. What more could you want??!

Always interesting to walk around these old battlements. Great sweeping views (given why they were built here), but the best part is always being able to walk right up close or in most of these structures.

The Auckland War Memorial Museum is a must-visit attraction that immerses you in Auckland's rich history. I had the pleasure of exploring it on a rainy afternoon and discovered that it's free for Auckland residents, creating a vibrant atmosphere even in gloomy weather. The museum beautifully showcases Maori culture, offering an insightful journey into their traditions and heritage. While tickets may be slightly pricey for foreigners, the experience is undoubtedly worthwhile. If you're a museum lover, allocate more than four hours to fully appreciate the extensive exhibits. Prepare to be captivated by the fascinating stories and immerse yourself in Auckland's vibrant past at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Very nice old B&B. Relaxing, clean and comfortable. Gracious host. The library upstairs is a nice place to socialize and relax.

Historic place where a war took place in which hundreds of natives perish due to the colonization of the place. Historical marks with the history are located around to tell the story about it, Carved totems surround the park and 2 carved-death trees are beautiful staying, telling the history of the local people.

Amazing place! I stayed in the Vintage Train Wagon, such a cute piece of history.Well equipment, bath, fridge and a continental breakfast, view of the mountains and garden. The place is amazing and the host was very nice. Lots of games to play in the garden and walking distance to CBD Te Anau. Recommend 100%
