5 stars on the proviso that this is accomodation with personality! You will not find anything corporate and anonymous - you will find some of the most interesting and amusing places to stay. We stayed in the train carriage for the first 2 nights and in the vestry for the last night. The train was the best as the convent had thin walls but both were very cool and quirky places to stay. You can pretend you’re taking a steam train journey or that you are a nun. What more could you want??!

Very nice old B&B. Relaxing, clean and comfortable. Gracious host. The library upstairs is a nice place to socialize and relax.

Amazing place! I stayed in the Vintage Train Wagon, such a cute piece of history.Well equipment, bath, fridge and a continental breakfast, view of the mountains and garden. The place is amazing and the host was very nice. Lots of games to play in the garden and walking distance to CBD Te Anau. Recommend 100%

We are so glad we discovered the Te Anau Lodge! It was the perfect spot to break up the drive back to Queenstown from the Milford Sound. Kym gave us a fabulous welcome when we arrived and kindly showed us the laundry guests have access to as well as a lovely gathering room where snacks and complimentary drinks are served (a much more personal experience than your standard hotel!). The property is an incredible conversion of a convent with lots of character - the confessional has been turned into a a dumb-waiter to bring up the luggage! After a delicious breakfast included in our fee to stay, we were refreshed for our drive back to Queenstown. Our stay at the Te Anau Lodge and dinner in town at the Redcliff Restaurant was truly a highlight of our trip!

Te Auau Lodge was so quirky and fun! As others have said, if you're wanting an anonymous American-style" hotel

Loved our stay. Had two different rooms, both were quaint and vintage in their own ways. Having a library with complimentary snacks and drinks (including beer & wine) was a nice plus.Very peaceful and relaxing. Each room had it own humorous bit of fun addition. Breakfast was wonderful and served a well appointed dining room. The nearby kitchen cooking up everything right next door.

A classic old-school bed and breakfast complete with full breakfast, a library and creaky floors. Delightfully charming and our host, Mark, was excellent! He is gracious, kind and incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the history of the property and all the cool antiques in the house. Highly recommend for several days, making it a home base for the park or the lake or the town.
