Budget Car & Truck Rental Napier Airport

Budget couldn't organize its way out of a paper bag! I'd give them zero stars if I could.I tried several times to hire a car with them and their system either went down / my booking mysteriously got deleted from their system / they couldn't accept my payment in advance then wanted to charge me more than $100 extra for paying on collection of the car even though I wanted to take up their pay in advance option.In the end, I gave up on Budget and hired a car from one of their competitors - which was an easy and pleasant process that took five minutes. I will never bother wasting my time with Budget again.

Shocking customer service. I can even get a CS person to find my booking number using my drivers license, credit card or place of booking. Ive sent emails , facebook messages, called the call centre twice. Once customer service rep didnt even know how one of their sites were charging me.

Be aware, additional acharges apply for bond purposes even if not stated. Contact needs to be made with your bank and Budget to approve the release of these funds if needed before the stated 5-7 business days

Seems like nothings changed since Zack's review. Also had extra charges, made a complaint, nothing happened. Very slow with communication and obviously didn't read the complaint as the reply, when arrived finally several weeks later... after further emails and calls... didn't even mention what I addressed! Second time Budget NZ has let me down. Should have learnt last time. Won't happen a third that's for sure!

After a month of trying to resolve a Charge Dispute with Budget I feel I have no option left but to give a terrible review.We were informed at Car Collection that there would be a credit card hold of $X. When the hold was applied it was ten times greater than the amount we were told. After returning the car (in perfect condition, with a full tank of fuel) this hold was reversed and we were then charged $X (the amount we were initially informed would be the hold fee) with no communication, no explanation and no invoice. I have called Budget and after an age on hold and with an operator unable to resolve the issue in my lunch break I was forced to end the call and follow-up via e-mail. Over a month (and now FIVE unanswered e-mails later) we are no closer to an explanation or resolution.Charging any amount without any explanation or invoice is unacceptable and a bad experience but should have been easily explained and resolved. This lack of Customer Service is, in my opinion, absolutely appalling. Budget doesn't appear to value Customer Service whatsoever. I am exceptionally angry and disappointed.

Airport staff were helpful however the price I paid online went up massively when I went to pick the car up as had to add on all kinds. Also noticed a sign that said they fill the car back up at a lower than usual rate, which the lady told me wasnt true meaning I had to then go back to re-fill the tank.Tried to pay toll road and was told by NZ Tolls that it was to be done by Budget, have called their Customer Service so many times and getting nowhere! Finally got through to someone to be able to pay the toll, they sent me an email with a link to set up an account to pay it and it was all to pay Australia tolls when I am in NZ! Even phoned the NZ number but it was an indian call centre so they didn't know what I was talking about.Can just see a bigger fee from them now to pay the $3 original toll charge!

Avoid like the plague. I rented a car for 5 days, returned it with a full tank of gas and in the same condition that I received it in. However, they charged me $350 on a Friday evening; well after anyone would be available to answer my questions.If they can make a bogus charge against you and get away with it, they will certainly try. Go with any other company, but avoid Budget.

Made a booking a week ago, and had no response. Took incredibly long to get hold of customer services to ask about my booking and when I eventually got on the line, they told me they had lost my booking and put me on hold AGAIN to transfer me to another team member... which at that point after 15 minutes of being on hold I gave up. Do not recommend at all.
