De Molen (windmill) Foxton
My family visited the Foxton Windmill a couple days ago on a whim when driving through the area, and I am so glad we did! We were delighted to meet Teunis, here from the Netherlands, who showed us through the mill and was very knowledgeable, interesting and informative! If you are near the area sometime in the next few months, I highly recommend popping by for a visit while he is still around!

De Molen (windmill) Foxton
De Molen (windmill) is a fully functioning replica of a traditional Dutch windmill built in Foxton in 2002. Climb the stairs halfway to the top for a unique experience. Try playing some traditional Dutch castle games made out of wood and enjoy the view in every direction from the second floor balcony. We were delighted to be inside when the windmill started up and could watch the intricate cogs and pulleys working on several levels. We bought some flour milled there just this week to make our own bread at home. Highly recommended as a place to visit and explore when you’re in Foxton.

De Molen (windmill) Foxton
What an experience - both entertaining and informational. This was my first time in a windmill and it was awesome. The best part was knowing that this is a working mill.At the ground floor is the information centre and shop where you can buy milled flour and other goodies. The ladies were great and very friendly. I arrived at a quiet time so was exploring by myself. As the windmill was not operating when I visited, I was able to walk all around the balcony. And the balcony provided some very excellent views. It was a real experience being able to walk between the different floors and view the various equipment that was required for milling the flour.

Very well presented to the public.. $3 charge for adults to climb up those steep ladders.. well worth the price when you go up.. Awesome engineering to use Wind power into Mechanical Energy and use it to make wheat powder.. Visited this place few years ago and it wasn't open to public.. But now I highly recommend everyone passing FOXTON to visit De Melon WindMill..

Great fun climbing up the levels ($2 donation and take care on the steep stairs) and seeing all the big gears and milling wheels. Amazing views in all directions from the viewing platform whether you look up, out or down.Buy cheeses and other Dutch ingredients and goodies or have a go at the games on the first level.Well worth your time

One of my favourite stops in New Zealand. Of course I had to stop on my drive! I went to look upstairs on the Flour mill for just $3 what a cool opportunity and of course I had to support the store downstairs aswell and try the foxton fizz. There was a great selection of traditional foods and desserts. The windmill was a highlight for me and the lady was super kind and shared some of the history with me! Stop by and support this neat little place. I reccomend it to all the backpackers asking for reccomendations on where to stop.
