All these people complaining about wait times are complaining in the wrong place. Do you know what the term 'Understaffed' means? You want to have go at someone look to the people who pay them - the government. They are not getting enough funding, plain and simple. And injuries are seen based on importance - not by when you turn up. That's why they can't estimate how long it will be.

Had to wait 4 hours just to change the dressing.. I understand there are shortages in staff but this is ridiculous! Especially the nurse named Linda. She just made us what almost an hour to get the dressing delivered and had absolutely 0 care in the world to look after the patients.

Despite expecting my mother, it took in excess of 3 hours to even get her a bed...and that was after having to insist that they did something... you can't keep an 80 yr old with dementia and liver failure sitting, wating for so long. So slow. Painfully slow. The saving grace is the amazing nursing staff there.

I have tested positive for Covid 2 days ago. My BP levels was high and I had kept fainting. I admitted to emergency care and I had 1 glass of water with the pills they gave and other than that nothing. I'm hugry and dehydrated and have asked for food or water and no response. As I have covid I don't want to move around and spread it to others. It was not my choice to be here, but I had to. Being dehydrated and not eating anything through out the day only makes my condition worse. Couple of nurses were Soo rude when I asked for water. I know you have shortage in staff and I completely respect front line workers. Please treat us with kindness, I did not ask to be sick.

They put up with all sorts of abuse both verbal and physical. They are grossly understaffed and I know for a fact (as I have a friend who works there) they often work through their breaks or well over the end of their rostered shift to help cover shortfall. To those who complain about the waiting times...it is largely because those who could have been seen at an Urgent care or GP are rocking up because it's free. If you must complain take your complaints to theMPs to make doctors visits and urgent care visits cheaper so non emergency cases can be kept out of ED. If the doctor at urgent care or GP cant treat you then they will refer you to ED, then ED know you are coming and are more likely to get seen quicker. If you are bleeding and feeling dizzy and alone, dont drive yourself to emergency ring for an ambulance,. Why put other people's life in danger by driving and possibly sending them to the department too...Also sitting in the waiting room you can't see the people come in via ambulance, a person who may have a tube down their throat and being bagged to keep them alive, the person that is bleeding profusely, the child who is fitting uncontrollably or has been bashed. And Often there is a line up of Ambulances that come in close together. So yes wait times are long, not the staffs fault, give them a break.!!! God knows they need it.

Sharing my experience today 18/07/23My 14 month old baby suddenly developed shiver and high fever, weak and irresponsive for few minutes. Called regular gp who suggested I call ambulance. Ambulance said they are busy but insisted I take him to emergency to be seen by a doctor. Rachael who was the triage nurse did not triage correctly and we waited 5 hours and decided to leave after not being called. In the 5 hours his temperature increased, he vomited, became more tired and every time I went to check how long its going to take, received nothing but incorrect wait times and stories. My son vomited on my wife and me and we were waiting there like that, which was seen by the nurse. Although this was noted in system nothing happened. After 2 hours wait I was advised he is second on the list. But about 7-8 patients who came after were called before us after I was told that we were second to be seen. Even just before leaving also I checked and I was told I was second in queue. So I dont know what system is this where you remain at the same spot for hours while people come and go from and through the queue.

The emergency service is a shame! Our health system is a shame—a pregnant women yelling in pain in the waiting room with everyone else for like 3 hours. The triage people are careless and rude, they don't communicate well. They don't have space for high-priority patients. You ask for follow-up they ignore you. I could see a group of nurses talking with free time in the back and not wanting to assist patients suffering with pain in the common waiting room. 40 minutes to get pain relief - I would have gone myself to the pharmacy to help my wife. One nurse clearly with no experience to take blood. The list goes long. I know is hopeless to comment on google but at least a place to have a say.

I have been experiencing pain in my ear, which has resulted in a headache since yesterday. Despite taking ibuprofen, the pain has worsened, and I have not been able to sleep. I tried booking an appointment with an after-hours service, but they are fully booked, and I do not want to wait in the emergency department for hours. When I arrived, I was in so much pain that I could not even speak properly, and I felt exhausted. My husband had to answer questions from a nurse, who was rude and unkind to us. She even talked loudly in the lobby, insinuating that I was pretending to be sick. I can walk, but that does not mean I am not in severe pain and unable to speak. The nurse demanded to see me and refused to talk to my husband. I feel miserable, sad, and angry because of the pain and the nurse's behavior. It is unacceptable for a healthcare professional to be unkind to a patient, especially when they are in distress. I hope that one day she experiences the pain I am feeling and is treated with the same rudeness she showed me. Some people like her should not be nurses.
