Owhiro Bay Community Gardens
Pretty nice gardens eh, lots of different plots of land with unique gardens built by individuals of the community. Would be nice to create a nice orderly garden here.

Funky Farm Petting Zoo and Kidz Play Toy Hire

Paradise Valley Springs
Such a fun day out with the family. It was a long wait to pat the cubs (an hour) which was super hard for my 19 month old but he enjoyed it so that's what matters (we were in with the cubs maybe 3 minutes). Next time I'd plan to go for longer and take a picnic and buy a coffee there.

Hamilton Zoo
HCC has made big investment in the Hamilton Zoo since we last visited 2 years ago. It was so well patronized there was a queue to enter (10 mins) & the car parks so full we & others had to park on Brymer Road, roadside. There is public transportation if you need it or prefer. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was my son's 3rd visit since 2018 & definitely the best.

Hanmer Springs Animal Park
Stopped in here before we went home Sunday. My kids and I love it here! We showed my sons hapai access card and the staff were so lovely and let him in for free and gave him some free animal food. Its pretty affordable to get in, you don't need long to visit. Some very cool animals here, well worth the visit when your in Hanmer Springs!

Blockhill Forest Garden & EcoCabin
An amazing place run by amazing people! A fantastic example of permaculture and food forestry, and how to create abundance in a dry climate. The cottage is a great spot for a weekend getaway, and we received a very warm welcome and delicious home-grown food from Olmec and Melisa. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Marshalls Animal Park
This is favourite place with kids. We going there almost every weekend.:) We have an annual pass, that is so worth it! If your kids love animals you should try it. :) also great flying foxes to have fun.

There’s few great things on this place access to the disability mobile carts, small restaurant on the entrance and also ice cream and there’s 2 vending machines with chips and drink pay by card or cash, try go there feeding time and you can clearly see them and enjoy there, please do not feed the animals but you can bring your own food and enjoy with your friend’s and family also very nice play ground for kids and adults, toilets are very clean and there few spot that you can get drinking water and enjoy
