We arrived at 9pm due to long weekend traffic and fog in the Lewis Pass. Kim stayed up waiting for us at the Tavern (which was no longer open). Fast efficient service and we couldn’t have asked for more for a stop over night. Thanks team.

We were booked in so they knew to expect us. Customer service is not a priority in this tavern. Do not order the steak!! For $38 we got a burnt price of meat unrecognizable in taste drowned in cheap brown gravy to disguise their lack of competence in kitchen. Hotel ok just a bed for the night.

Booked in for one night on way to West Coast. Host lady was so friendly and the steak dinner....OMG the best Ive had all year. Motel is very quiet and rooms spotless clean. So peaceful, that I booked another night.Only 15kms from Murchison but the on site pub has meals, snacks and of course drinks, so you are fully catered for. Talk a walk down to the Buller River. There is a campground on their property, right on the river. More people should stop by this place and check it out. I will be back!!!

Decent pub, I stayed camping down the track but went for a few beers. Food seemed expensive. The lady behind the bar seems to charge what she likes so, I would suggest asking for a price before ordering… overall a decent pub which I imagine would have been quite something in its heyday!

Spent a LOT of time in this pub 40 odd years ago. Stopped in here for a quick meal and a beer on the way home after the murchison a+p show, and it has hardly changed a bit. Good, well fried seafood basket. Had a look around and saw my mums name on a pool trophy circa 1986. Was a good reminisce of the good days well gone by, when times were simpler and petrol was less than a dollar a litre.

Charming little motel in the mountains with 3 basic bedrooms. smells a bit musty but is clean and comfortable and good for a night to break up a road trip. the owner of the pub was very friendly and personable. Just watch out for her price gauging on the drinks. $40 for a basic bourbon on the rocks - ouch. Always ask for the detailed receipt before paying. She takes some liberty with pricing things.

Nice place to stopover from Picton down to Franc Joseph. Owners are very friendly and helpful when we asked about places of interest and where to visit for the day. They were prepared to make any dish out of their menu to our request as long as they have the ingredients. We had a good chat with the owners during our one night stay. It’s also a nice place for a short retreat… so many craft beers to choose from. I must recommend the beef noodles and Sweet and sour pork. It’s really soft and nice and we actually made a second order. Would def come back to stay if we r driving this road again.

Was staying a night while driving to the westcoast. Hosts were really friendly, the room was clean and had everything we needed. Additionally they were the only stop so far with insect screens on each window - we loved that simple feature! Would definitely stay there again on the way.
