Avis Car Rental Timaru Downtown

Thanks George & Rob for saving my bacon and coming out way after hours to sort a car of me. Not sure what I would have done without you two . I rent a lot of cars and I haven't found anyone else that provides the sort of service you offer

Georgina and Rob were really easy to deal with and the whole process was very easy. Highly recommended.

The lady had zero customer skills as was extremely rude and had booked the car for 1 less day then what we asked and had even more of an attitude about it when calling to ask where it was. Car wasn't bad but way too pricey for a rental as there's basically no competition otherwise gladly would've gone somewhere else. Would not recommend until they change their attitude. Also needs to have someone at their timaru branch not a paper on their saying its not normally manned during their business hours as they are out at their airport branch 20-30 mins away.

Georgina is a fantastic person. Cannot for the life of me understand the poor reviews. Probably rude people wanting everything for nothing. Great friendly service. Down to earth and helpful. Could not fault the service as needed rental provided by my insurance while my car off the road for 4 months. Apparently parts are paddled by canoe to NZ from Japan. Would recommend

Supposed to be open at the airport today. Not here. Left us stranded in the rain after the airport closed. Does not return calls

AVIS knowingly rented me a vehicle which they knew had malfunctions. I said I didn't want the vehicle with these issues but they told me it'd be ok. They asked me to put a piece of paper in the center console showing that the vehicle had problems. A short distance into my 8 hour drive the cruise control and parking brake malfunction messages came up on the instrument panel (see pictures) . The cruise control malfunction could have put my life in danger. And I didn't feel safe parking the car during the trip and consequently had to drive with only one stop for the whole trip. I called AVIS and they weren't really very helpful and did not send me an email response regarding my complaint as promised. Not impressed with this, especially since they charged me $355 NZD for ONE day ! They should not ever rent out malfunctioning vehicles. I will avoid them in the future if at all possible.

This woman Georgina in Timaru branch is extremely unhelpful and got no work ethics. We have rented the car for 3 days and paid whopping amount of $904 and we only got POOR service in return! Unfortunately left our personal stuff in the car and I immediately rang her and asked if it's Ok to have it couriered to us and she said she will have it sorted. 3 weeks later she obviously ignored my request and all emails were ignored. Could not even provide invoice promptly because no one is manning the office. DISGUSTING SERVICE. No they don't deserve that 1 star. Should be NONE!!!

We cannot fault Georgina, we had our car stolen up north and lost credit cards etc. Our kind neighbour lent us a card ,NO other car rental company would help, Georgina ,I guess bent rules and sorted a car for us. Couldn't have been any easier. She made a stressful time so easy . Just shows there are some really nice people out there. All the best for 2023.

Timaru office needs to make sure they keep up with bookings online. However, once I contacted the local manager via phone, things went really well with my booking. She was friendly, efficient and my car was ready in minutes.The handoff in Christchurch Kilmore St. was awkward as you have to drive into their garage and there seemed no easy way to get into the office during the day, to hand over.
