Mode Rentals

This was my first time booking with Mode and I was a little nervous as I hadn’t heard of the company before. But I was not disappointed. From the shuttle pick up at the airport, to helping me with a padlock on my suitcase (because I accidentally threw away the keys), to dropping me back to my hotel on drop off, the customer service was fantastic, Friendly and down to earth. My car was clean, tidy, and ran well. And the price point was far better than some other companies. Thank you Mode Rentals.

We booked with Mode for a 3 week holiday in NZ. We had to collect after hours (fee is very reasonable) and were given clear, easy instructions to do so. Collecting was a breeze, within 5 minutes we were given the keys and on our way in a clean car and a full tank. We had roadside assistance available peace of mind insurance" which we did not need to use at all. KMs were unlimited which suited us as we drove almost 2900kms to visit whanau and see landmarks across the north island. We returned the car clean and with a full tank as requested and recieved an email a couple hours later with the refunded amount (deposit) added into the invoice. Overall

Hired a Nissan Leaf. Great value, great pick up service from airport in Auckland. Car was fantastic and covered over 1000km. Make sure you download appropriate EV apps and take appropriate charge cables. Although NZ has a great charging infrastructure, stations are busy. Highly recommend Mode Rentals and try an EV.

Easy, cheap, convenient!We hired cars from Mode out of Christchurch and Auckland during our NZ travels and it was a great, stress-free experience. The staff were really helpful. Would use again!

I don’t normally write reviews as it’s very difficult to get great service these days but I had to in this case. I recently had a trip to NZ North Island where I rented a van for 1 week to travel north to play golf with a group of mates from OZ, then returned the van and swapped it with a car so I could then tour the lovely island with my wife. Mode rentals were fantastic in the whole process, firstly picking us up from the Auckland airport and taking us back to their depot. It didn’t take long at all and we were off on our adventure. I currently have a rental with these guys and cannot unrecommend them enough from my experience. The rental will go smoothly providing you dont have any issues. They gave me a rental with nearly 200k on the clock which at first didn't bother me. But within 24 hours I had a flat tire, I'd driven a few miles before noticing the sound on the highway, so by the time I put the spare on the tire was knackered and needed replacing. Now I purchased the premium insurance incase of events like this and trying to go through the process of getting the tire replaced with them was near impossible, the woman on the phone couldn't explain the process to me. At first I thought I was being impatient or a little bit thick so they asked me pass the phone over to the tire repair company. They couldn't explain clearly to these guys what to do so they refused to work with them. In the end, I had to purchase it myself. Luckily the tire place was very helpful and sorted me out without ripping me off. Bridgestone tires in Westgate Auckland gets a big thumbs up. This hire company is not worth the stress if you are a holiday maker like me. If you encounter issues with your vehicle, it's going to cost you much more money and time than you expect, and you really don't need this when your time is limited. Don't take the risk and just choose a different company iin my opinion. I'm yet to see what happens when I return the vehicle. I'll be expecting more arguments and issues. They also tried to say the tire was new when they gave me the car which is 100% definitely not true.

Really excellent experience, from start to finish! I rented an older SUV for 9 days, and got an excellent price at around $380 total. Although the Toyota Rav4 had 116,xxx km on it, it was super clean and ran great. I appreciated having this option in exchange for a good price. The guys were friendly and professional, and very quick to pick me up from the airport. Definitely give Mode your business - I highly recommend them!

We booked our vehicle quite some time ago and have only had good dealings with Mode since day 1. Our itinerary changed a little bit and we ended up swapping our pickup point from the airport to the city, which was easily accommodated by the team for a small fee. The online check in system was simple to use and expedited the pickup process, and the handover process was also simple.Just bear in mind that it is a bit of a walk from the pickup/dropoff area at the international terminal, and you may have to wait for the shuttle when you return the vehicle.

Booked Mode car for our holiday.We were given an excellent car and very friendly service from all staff. Everything is very clean. A shuttle takes you from the airport to their office and quick exit from the office to main routes. Good price for car. Would recommend.

Couldn't fault our experience with Mode. Booking, pick up and drop off was an absolute breeze. We booked a Rav4 for almost 4 weeks and completed nearly 6K miles, in both Islands, without a hitch. Great communication and customer care and would definately use them again if we return from UK (which we hope to do).Thanks to the team in Auckland!
