Wellington's Kiwi Holiday Park
Both worked here and had parents live as long term tenants. Owner is a nasty, verbally abusive antagonistic man even to long term stays, talks rudely about guests behind their backs, racist. Poisons the air by burning rubbish and making the place smell terrible. Cares little about guests and will at best be nice to their face and rude behind their backs. I have never met someone so horrible in my life. Even when I was staff he was mean and unfair. Rabbits and pet birds kept in small cages with nothing to do and no space to run, the poor things, yet they claim to love animals. Some of the rooms are so damp there is water on the walls.

Lovely owners and park is set in among the trees. Biking tracks connect to the camp ground which was great! Simple campground but very lovely

The owners are very rude/creepy and raciest. Partner had someone looking under the door while showering. Room had black mould and damp. Grounds were flooded. Asked for another cabin but was told to move on. So did with pleasure. I do not recommend this place at all. Rabbits kept in shocking conditions. Showers and toilets very untidy and kitchen small. This Should not be a kiwi holiday park! Owners need to retire. Flew from Dunedin to spend a week. Lasted 2 nights. Nice friendly cleaners. Wish I read the reviews. Would give them 0 stars if I could.

Bare minimum campground. You can tell the owners wish they were doing something else. The facilities are dated, which is okay but they need to clean them more often! The owner confessed that the hot water costs him nothing as it is wood fired but also he turns off the water if someone has been in the shower too long. He gave us a couple of examples, umm how do you know how long people are showering? Creepy. If you don't want to charge maybe put a timer on the water.  Talking about timers, the womens bathroom light will turn off after about 2min so I hope you enjoy showering in the dark.  Several times I have come across the light switch off! What is the point of the timers? The kitchen isn't big enough and not enough hobs for the amount of people that stay. The fridge is jam packed and the campground is fairly empty. There is a heap of expired food in the fridge. There is no tv room or such just a sad corner in the small kitchen. The mircowave is gross. There is a whole area of people who are emergency housing who stay up late talking and singing. There is no way to access the river from the campground. You must go through the park. I understand wanting to keep non paying guests out but just put a gate with a keypad like every other campground.

Nice caravan park this, facilities are clean and up to date. Pleasant staff and generally a quiet place to stay, plenty of activities next door for the kids.

Glad I took the owner's suggestion for a place to set up my tent - very quiet, peaceful. Traveling North and South Islands, writing several articles for American cycling magazines. Kitchen is small/basic but made it work.

The owner is a paranoid individual who will follow you with his bike. I felt both unsafe and unwelcome at this establishment. We checked in only to have him follow after us as if to spy on us. He is rude. The facilities are dirty. I HIGHLY recommend to avoid this holiday park at all costs. Would give it 0 stars if that was possible.
