Mount White Station

Just spent the best two and half days at Mount White Station, staying at the Esk Hut. The hour long drive from the Mount White bridge to the main farm only gives one a hint at how beautiful the farm is. When we arrived, Jane immediately made us feel very welcome. The Esk Hut itself is in a stunning and very private location. The team has thought of everything: morning and sunset patio with super comfortable bean bag chairs to enjoy the views. The huge tables inside and outside was great for our little family to spread out but would be great for a large group. The beds are seriously comfortable, and I appreciated the multiple pillow options. Obviously the hiking from the hut is spectacular, and it’s so nice to feel like you have the whole farm to yourself. We didn’t see anyone for two days and that’s what we wanted. Darren and Jane are doing an amazing job running the tourism part of this operation. My only complaint is that I wish we had booked more nights!

We held our Team Retreat at Mt White and we were blown away at the stunning views, high quality and luxurious feeling of the buildings, and the delicious food. The feedback from the team was glowing. I would recommend signing up for on-site activities like beekeeping, farm tours and paddle boarding which added to the experience. We had 15 people stay, and used both the twin rooms and the bunks with two people to a room which worked well for our team. We had great connection to wifi, whiteboards and screens when needed for our team sessions – the team at Mt White accommodated all we needed.I certainly would recommend a stay here for any team, especially for a retreat for staying off devices and enjoying the great outdoors.

Fantastic Easter to celebrate significant family birthdays. We had amazing weather and loved the superb venue and viewing the kitchen garden and glasshouse, walking around the lake, climbing adjacent hills, swimming and paddleboarding on the lake, riding in the Unimog and climbing Binzer saddle. A fantastic experience and love to go back again!

We did not know what to expect when I booked Terrace Hut, 2 months ago. Having used Airbnb on our New Zealand adventure thus far, this was definitely the highlight accommodation for us.This visit is THE story we will tell when we get home.The 27km drive from Mt White bridge to the station had us curious and hooked.There we met welcoming, chatty Jane, and after coffee and homemade sweet things, we then embarked on an hour long Land Rover , gravel road , utterly breathtaking scenic trip to our remote loggings for the night. Jane’s friendliness and obvious enthusiasm for her work encouraged us to ask every question that came to mind.We had the 12 person hut to ourselves. You bring your own food but all other needs are catered to. We loved the wood burning fire, indoor/outdoor bean bags but most of all the utter peace and quiet except for the occasional lowing of a cow from the river valleys below us or the sound of a lark soaring skyward. We walked to a nearby mustering hut to the scent of wild manuka bushes, full of buzzing Mt White bees.If peace and calmness and a total escape from a noisy, active world is what your looking for, then I cannot recommend Mt White highly enough.Thank you Jane and Darren .(And Emily for the yummy cakes)

Fabulous place to stay , wonderful service, the room were super warm and cosy, the food was brilliant and the views breathtaking. Awesome company trip away and enjoyed by all. Thanks again Darren, Jane and Emily.

Our stay at Mount White Station was amazing. We held a two day offsite with 11 team members. The meeting space and accommodation was second to none – relaxing, very workable and the ‘bunks’ were incredibly comfortable. Meals were incredible and Darren and Emily were so accommodating and lovely it made the whole offsite enjoyable and stress free. The weather cleared on the first day in time for us to have a lot of fun playing lawn games (great team building) and then the Unimog tour on the morning of the second day was awesome. The whole team were blown away by the environment surrounding us and the tranquility of Mount White Station. We would not think twice about going back in the future.

A truly magical Christmas. We spent Christmas in the Esk hut and our stay completely exceeded our expectations. We stayed with our 3 children aged 5 and under and they all had the best time. Darren and Jane were fantastic too. We learnt a lot about high country farming in NZ. Our days were spent walking and exploring around the hut, eating good food on the outdoor table, mountain biking and playing games. The hut has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stayed two nights and thought we should have stayed another one! We highly recommend and can’t wait to go back! Thank you again for this amazing experience !

What a wonderful few days at Mount White Station. We chose Mount White Station for our 2022 annual walking weekend and had a great time, the hospitality of Darren, Jane and Tim was excellent. They were friendly, flexible and very helpful. The walks on the property were varied and enjoyable and the accommodation was excellent - both the hut if you want to get away from it all and the Shearer's Quarters for a more upmarket stay.Thank you for the opportunity to visit and explore.

Our absolute favourite place on our road trip through New Zealand. Darren and Jane's hospitality was next level - such a warm welcome and generosity with their time and knowledge of Mount White Station. The hut was just perfect - so peaceful nestled up in the high country with beautiful views. Magnificent sunsets, vast night skies, surrounded by manuka bushes and mountains. The beds were so comfortable none of us wanted to leave for our next accomodation on the trip! Hiking down to the river to do a cold swim was so memorable. The kids loved meeting the lambs that were being kept by Darren and Jane's kids. We watched the shearers in the shearing shed, took a tour of the state of the art honey extracting facility and ride in the Unimog. When you visit- don't leave without purchasing the Mount White Station book (fascinating history) and a variety of the station's honey! Next time we will definitely take the beekeeping tour..can't wait to return to Mount White Station!

Just back from a massively enjoyable weekend away on Mt White Station. Four families rode in from the homestead to the incredible Terrace Hut for 2 nights of exploring the huge valleys, ridges and rivers.We had our luggage and food transferred to the hut which allowed us to enjoy the ride and pack extra tasty snacks and drinks.The hut was perfect - super comfortable with literally all the trappings of any modern house....just without WIFI...bliss. The beds were hotel quality (literally) and none of us wanted to leave.Do yourself a favour and go and experience this piece of Southern Alps paradise.
