Blue Duck Station
Had the most incredible birthday weekend stay at Blue Duck Station and Chefs Table. The station owner, Dan, was very welcoming, friendly and chatty and his other staff like Mel and Matthew were so helpful and accommodating. Such a beautiful location. We did the All Terrain Vehicle 2hr trip through the station and up to The Chef's Table, which literally did feel like you were on top of the world with 360 degree magnificent views over national parks and mountains. Our wooden luxury cabin was gorgeous and the 10 course degustation meal with matching wines was unbelievable. Most of the food is taken from the farm and the meal creations were amazing. Jack is the incredible young chef and his partner, Beth, is the manager and host. They were both so lovely, welcoming and passionate about NZ, local food and wines. The manuka honey from the station is also divine. Unforgettable experience!

GOOGLE MAPS LIES.... We were 45/50 minutes from Raurimu to Blue Duck Cafe. An hour less than Google said. Even a conservative driver will be WELL under, their is gravel at both ends - sealed in the middle.Amazing place. Beautiful views. Wonderful people. Alot of activities to do and places to go. We had a clear night, amazing stars. We did the 4wd to top of the world (where the restaurant is being built) and got full cell reception (only place - although small data allowance wifi available to purchase at cafe for a couple of dollars) Great views, great guide and the kayaking was a MUST at the waterfall... others did trekkinsand jetboating and enjoyed them. Clay bird was awesome - proud of my 9/10 lol Great instruction on safety and how to. Axe throwing was embarrassingly hilarious!! Could easily have enjoyed a week here.Accomodation was clean, tidy and warm. Communal areas great too. Thanks heaps!!

Beautiful place to experience the nature New Zealand has to offer. The people who run this are wonderful and very welcoming, like a family. It's a very magical place that holds a special place in my heart. Hope to come back again soon

Spent a day hanging out at the café, while waiting for my Whanganui River journey to depart. Great service by the team, with a excellent initiative to conjure up some vegan options. I booked to have dinner there too and the chef paid extra consideration to my meal offerings. Location is one of those must-see NZ places, too. Will go back, for sure!

Most amazing location to go to. Staff couldn't do enough for us. A huge range of bird life and access to high country views for the misty sunrise was stunning.

I got food poisoning from eating in their cafe. Manager did not offer any assistance. Got it from the eggs. Free range eggs carry salmonella if not washed.

Dropping yourself into the middle of nowhere never felt this good! I came as part of the Stray itinerary and was happy to stay for 2 nights.Besides taking a swim in the Retaruke River, you can hike to the Blue Duck Waterfall (about 1,5-2 hours each way). I absolutely loved this place as well as the hike leading towards it.This place brings a lot of calmth which was much needed after several hikes the previous days. Thanks for having us!
