Compared to other reviews, it seems like we were quite lucky (did not have any major trouble or dispute with Apex). Rented a RAV4 from them and had no problem, picked up from Queenstown city centre and returned to Queenstown Airport (7 day rent). I still reckon the customer service could be better though, the lady who talked to us was not really professional nor friendly.

I never had a problem so far. A rather unfriendly guy, who at the time of going to leave the car and while I went down to ask only where I left because there was no place, he comes in a little arrogant saying that we could not park ... something we obviously knew, did not give us time to get a cell phone that was in the car. After the guy arrives and tells us that he did not find anything, that we should go get him, the car was parked in another corner, And the cell phone was at the driver's door. Very bad service after renting.

The crew at Apex Car Rentals Queenstown do a top-notch job.I hired a small Toyota and here is my feedback: interior and exterior was presented in Immaculate condition, mechanically the car was in A1 condition, and the value for money was top notch.I shopped around a bit before hiring this car and I think Apex Car Rentals represented the best value for money.I dropped the car back at the airport and they had a curtesy bus that took us right up to the terminal.I’ve included some pictures from my drive. Have fun on the open roads and remember to stay safe!

I was the second customer on the day to pick up my car. The staff who was serving me went away to deal with two customers that came in later to return their car. It ended up the customers that came in later than me got their car first.Shouldn’t she handle my pick up first? I thought I had the priority!Is their time more valuable than mine?

Unbelievable pricing, made a bad decision to use a taxi from Queenstown airport to Queenstown Town Centre costing almost NZ$40!!! Apex rented me a Yaris for $32 a day with unlimited kms and I can drop off at airport. I drove the car for 10 hours to Milford Sound and back without missing a beat! This place I highly recommend on the rates alone, service was fantastic. So good I booked another car from them when I arrive in Auckland in a couple of days.

Cars are a good price and decent quality. Not the cleanest (on the outside) but that's hardly a problem. Picking up a car from here does involve some waiting as someone has to go fetch it from a mystery location, so give yourself an extra 15 mins to get going.
