Taupo DeBretts Spa Resort

Highly recommend staying here if you’ve got kids. Our 2.5 year old loved the water park and we spent all day there! Even when we weren’t at the park, the cabin was very spacious and it gave him lots of room to play while we got ready for the days activities. He also loved the large cushion and play areas so much that we went every morning and afternoon. Great all round and would stay again for sure!

Stayed in a lovely private unit which was very clean and modern and had a good view towards the lake. Only negative was the light from the driveway shining through the kitchen window kept my partner awake, as the blind didn't block it fully. Staff were wonderful and the pools were great. I thought the pricing was very reasonable given the quality of the accommodation. Nearby restaurant was good too (a short walk away)

While the location of this holiday park is incredible and the facilities were quite good, losing 2 stars due to:- I must agree with the negative reviews as the cleanliness is not up to scratch. There were stains on the wall near the bin, bread crumbs left on the wooden chopping board (hence the ants came in hard overnight), the door mat outside was covered in dirt and leaves when moved (it just requires someone to sweep under it).- the huge water park and swimming pool was an extra charge and given we were only staying for 1 night, 38NZD for 3 people (2 children and 1 adult) to use the water park facilities for about 2 hours was a bit steep.- there are no night lamps in the room and it gets so dark at night it was so hard to navigate around the room (we ended up leaving the bathroom light on and even then we walked straight into furniture). I really struggle to understand why there is no lamps on the night stands?!Small changes will make a huge difference to this place.

Great place to stay for camping and to enjoy the hot pools. Only downside is the tumble dryers - we had to put our load on 3 times before they were dry ultimately meaning we were waiting around for our laundry. Aside from this can’t fault it, showers and kitchen were great!

My ratings were difficult to judge. We made our booking from Australia unaware that we were booking a room without facilities. We only found out when we arrived. On our first night we could not be upgraded. On the second day we were upgraded by wonderful, understanding staff. Thank you. Your website needs to be a great deal clearer.

DeBretts were great in helping us to set up for a whanau reunion of 20 people. We were able to book units all together, and they were very helpful when we needed to make some changes. Very responsive and friendly staff. And the families, especially the kids, loved the pools and play areas.Nice to be able to charge the EV too.Thank you

We had such a brilliant time and a hassle free stay, very comfortable beds and pillows. Thank you for a great getaway. We came from Auckland and met a friend who came from Wellington and it was the perfect 'in the middle' spot to meet up, spend some quality time and enjoy the awesome thermal park. Our kids had such a blast and the adults could relax and soak in the hot pools. Only downside was one adult hurt their tail bone coming out of the hydroslide on a 'bump' so possibly mats would be better for them, but the kids had no issues. We'll definitely be back and recommend to all!

We stayed a night here on a road trip to Wellington. The room was generous, clean and tidy, with a good king size bed. No meals available, but there is a restaurant at the hotel next door (bit pricey). Also it's a bit of a walk down the hill to the De Bretts thermal pools, especially on a cold night. This is no longer a hotel, but a motor camp and motel.

Loves out stay in a motel unit for family of 5. Two good sized bedrooms, one with bunks and single bed for the 3 kids, good sized king bed for hubby and me in separate room. Heated using radiators so lovely temps all night long. Shower was terrible as most water was coming out the tap connection. Loved being close to the hot pools but even with the discount, cost us $72 for the family. The $90 three day pass for the pools would be super sensible.
