Spellbound Glowworm and Cave Tour

Amazing small group tour of two caves off the typical tourist trip (outside Waitomo) guided by Zane, who was awesome! He shared his passion and wealth of knowledge of the caves, geography of the area, glowworms and more in a personal, memorable way.

We were guided by Scuba on our Spellbound tour. The group was small and Scuba really took the time to answer all questions, get to know us a little bit and help us out with ideas for the rest of our trip. Besides this, he gave us a great tour of these amazing caves. It seemed quieter than and not as touristy as the Waitomo Caves. The tour included a nice walk, boat ride and free drink. It’s definitely child-friendly as there were four kids in our group and they seemed to have had a good time as well. Photography is allowed. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Highlight of epic trip to NZ. Our Māori guide Hop created the most memorable experience. We are beyond grateful for his kindness and willingness to go above and beyond. Our hotel owner recommended this tour over the popular one I had planned to do in town. I can’t express how right on she was, as this tour proved to be much more intimate and unique than the larger one in town. It was definitely out of the way to get to, windy mountain road made the journey that much more special.We learned a lot and would highly recommend this tour - especially when led by Hop.

We went through two cave systems: one on foot and one by boat, with a short break for tea and biscuits in-between. Both caves were amazing! The boat ride was long enough for your eyes to adjust to the darkness, so you could see the glow worms much better than otherwise.

If you are on the North Island and want to really experience a cave and the glowworms then forget the Waitomo Glowworm Caves and come here instead.You get an awesome guide who wants everyone to have a great time. You are visiting two caves and in between there might be a surprise on top! ;)He even provided tripods in the cave to shoot great pictures!Don't forget to tip this guy, the trip is way too cheap for what he offers!

Thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He did not rush, so we had plenty of time to see and take pictures of glow worms. Great way to end our 2-week NZ trip. Highly recommend over the competition.
