Hamilton Western Rail Trail
Bike paths are wide and every road you cross has pedestrian lights to cross safely. Enjoy this path from the city centre out to Innes commons and beyond. Although short it is well maintained. Train station on route, toilets by the Hokey turf, and plenty of shade at this point in the mornings when biking. Only downside is it currently ends on a busy industrial road. Hopefully it will be extended in the future.

Hawea River Trail
Very nice lake, but locals not.I've met many unfriendly people who seems to sick and tired of tourist of any kind. :(I'd suggest to not waste time for this town and give them a rest from visitors. Don't spoil your impression of friendly New Zealanders by visiting Lake Hawea town!

So so beautiful, I hire an e-bike to bike around the bike trail. It’s so so magneficent, endless beautiful view. I would totally recommend. My partner actually bike with me with normal bike. So you totally can. I hire 4 hours only for the bike and took us around 3.5 hrs (with a very relax and not in a rush place. Stop at some places, took a photo, etc) so you dont have to hire 8 hrs if you just biking around hawae river
