Apex Car Rentals Christchurch Airport

No nonsense car rental close to Christchurch airport. Get your luggage, head out of door 1 and give them a quick call. A van will be with you in 10 minutes, which then takes you to their premises. The cats have all been tidy and clean, what more could you want from a car rental?

Felt that staff were not that friendly at first as I couldn't provide the credit card with name on it. One of the staff showed me the brochure stating the credit card with name is a must, but that brochure is from Axis company, not to be found in Apex official website as what I have read. However, they have done a good job on handling the situation outside the box. It would be much appreciated if the official website emphasise the need of a credit card with name, as i didnt encounter such situation while renting my a car back in Australia, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan. We have used Apex on our last 2 visits to New Zealand. The staff at Christchurch were very helpful and the car was immaculate. Highly recommend

Customer service was very poor. Arrived to pick up at Queenstown airport and I was hit with the ‘you don’t have any insurance’ when I had booked it online. What’s the point in apex allowing customers to buy the insurance with another company online if their employers do not know the customers have done so? Seems like a scam to scare customers into buying additional insurance with them. Dropped off at Christchurch airport and was again met with an aggressive unfriendly person who threatened me with a charge of $40 if I did not top up the tank despite the tank being pretty much full (see photo). So I drove around for 20 minutes without a clue where I was going just to top it up. Overall really poor customer service, I would go with a different company next time.

Had a disappointing experience with Apex.Picked up the car from Christchurch branch, which is nice and smooth, the service was great. Returned the car to Nelson branch, however we left our lighter USB adapter in the car and asked them if they can arrange sending it back to Christchurch apex.We are told the parcel fee is $20, but a domestic post fee for a small object with NZ post only costs probably $5. We called back to ask again, they then said for lost property return, they charge a $25 process fee plus parcel fee, so it’s more expensive than before. The staff then send me an email showing the policy, however it is a document without any company signage on it and it also refers to Australia region.The adapter is not an expensive thing, but we’ve already spend hundreds dollars on the rental car, so expecting a customer service better than that.. I feel like the so called lost property policy here is to drive customers away when they forget stuff behind and avoid any extra work, they did not go a single extra mile for customers.

This rating as Apex don't accept NSW government app electronic drivers licences. So if you don't have your original licence from whichever country plus international if applicable you can't pick up the car or be a driver. This is written nowhere in the terms and conditions. We did contact them but there was no response and the staff at the local offices can't help. We were faced with a months driving holiday all to be done by the one person. Very tiring and not the planned relaxing break. Presume if one of us didn't have the original licence we wouldn't of been able to rent the car. Could of been a disasterous holiday

One issue I have with this depot is their willingness to substitute an inferior vehicle for the one I book online.Fit for purpose and like for like are important considerations.It would be nice if Apex bothered to ask why I chose a particular vehicle.Golden rule - always treat customers how you would like to be treated.

The service, both at collection and drop off, was professional and friendly. We researched prices before we arrived and Apex was the best especially for covering daily insurance. Our counter staff member ,on arrival, and shuttle driver on departure were the best. Highly recommend!

Was picked up from Chc airport within 10 minutes of landing, straight to their depot where collecting our rental was seamless. Paid just under 1k for a 12-seater van for 6 days, which included a full cover insurance. Van is clean and reliable. Queenstown staff were very helpful upon returning the vehicle. Would highly recommend!
