Hygge at Clifton Bay
An absolutely stunning place. Waiters were kind and lovely, a bit forgetful and clumsy at times, but very nice. The food was good, Burger was not special, just a good burger. Beef cheek was tender and nice, quite salty.Overall, this place is good.

A very warm and welcoming staff, in a lovely setting, and interesting menus with good explanations. We had a party of 15 and it was not too noisy to talk and hear. The locally grown food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, not too much either. Great value for our money.

Lovely setting with a view of the ocean if seated outside. Attentive staff made sure we didn't go wanting. Outside area was dog friendly with a wee play area for the kids. Would definitely dine/visit again.

First time to eat at Hygge and we'll be back. The seafood chowder was nice and creamy with ample pieces inside. The fish and chips was great and not dry. The mull wine was not spicy enough.

We had lunch with friends on Saturday and 3 out of 4 didn’t like the food. The fish was oily and tasted old. (I’m an ex commercial fisherman) Also there weren’t many vegan options! The service and atmosphere was great.

This cafe has great potential due to its location but the coffee was weak and cold. I checked with other customers sitting near us and they said the same. There is a lovely seating area under the trees out the front and room to park your bicycle if you’ve just done the coastal trail. There is los of room inside and lots of touristy interesting things for sale. Fix the coffee and this place would be magic.

We were there for brunch. The food and coffees were as good as any other cafe, nothing particularly different either in their appearances or tastes. We received a very warm and welcoming greetings at our arrival but I guess that was the end of their customer care. Was our first visit and potentially the last though the venue itself, specially the outdoor, was very gorgeous. Was slightly windy outside, so the person who was collecting our dishes had difficulty catching serviettes. I chased them for her three times but she failed to say thanks or even to somehow acknowledge the help.Waiting in the queue to pay for the table, one of their staff passed by, hitting my shoulder on his way. He didn’t apologize and simply ignored me.

My husband and I have often enjoyed a coffee here, also enjoyed a breakfast last year. Last Thursday we decided to head out for lunch, wanting a sea view location, we decided on hygge. Unfortunately our meals were so underwhelming, and because of this I felt way overpriced. My husband’s small pork salad had dry pork and dry noodles, looked like it had been under the heat lamp far too long. He said the best part was the peanuts. My pork on risotto with veg was also dry and looked and tasted old and reheated. The risotto however had lovely flavours. We never complained and I now wish we did because it has been on my mind since, and reading others reviews, I felt the need to leave this review. the price we paid and the quality of food was very disappointing. I think we will simply stick to coffee here in the future
