Hertz Car Rental Picton Ferry Terminal

Lurleen is an absolute star and credit to this office. Our ferry was delayed a couple of hours into Picton meaning we would not arrive until 9pm. I called ahead to inform Hertz and Lurleen was very reassuring on the phone to say that she would be there waiting for us. When we finally arrived, Lurleen saw to us straight away and made it a very quick and easy process and was so friendly. We had a fantastic Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross which made our long trips around the South Island extremely enjoyable.

Multiple failings! We were not told about $40 pick up fee after hiring a car from Auckland. We were then incorrectly informed of our drop off location, which meant an hour of our time in Queenstown to drop off car. On top of this we had to wait over an hour in Picton to pick up the car which was not cleaned properly. Very poor service and I would never recommend this company!!

I had booked a car with another company and I was told the morning I came to get my car that they couldn't accept my credit card (and that was very likely that no other company would have accepted it). Please note that my card is a completely normal credit card so the reason behind their rejection is still unknown to me. Of course I was desperate: I was travelling alone and I had a full month of already paid accomodation around the south island. So I went to Hertz and I still can't believe how lucky I've been. Not only they had a spare car suitable for me, but Julia (the lady I talked to) was also very kind and helped me and reassured me. She totally saved my holiday! (Also no absolute problem with the credit card).The car I rented was a Holden barina, it was new, very functional and comfortable. I had no problem during my holiday, but Hertz gives you plenty of advices about what to do if you get involved in a crash or the car breaks. Totally recommend Hertz!

The agency was open when we arrived. It seems like they open to suit the Ferry arrival times, so I’m not sure how you would pick up your car if you didn’t arrive at those times. Actually quite busy. The line moved fairly quickly and we were helped into our car by Drea. There was one surprise fee added to the bill which wasn’t on my original reservation. Drea was able to remove the fee. Otherwise we had a trouble free rental to Christchurch. We will be back. Our car was a hybrid which is a great choice for NZ petrol prices. Thanks again Drea.

The car was ready, and pickup was quick and easy even though our flight to Christchurch was delayed.The Toyota Corolla 4dr hatchback was excellent on NZ's roads. Only complaint was that the visor is too short and doesn't slide out.Drop-off in Picton was also quick since the office was closed and there was just a key drop.

Good rental company. I was a bit scared because there were some bad reviews for the one in Christchurch. I relocated a car so only paid 1$ (plus insurance). People at the office in Christchurch were friendly and here in Picton too. The car was awesome. It was a beautiful, new Toyota Corolla. It even still smelled like a new car. It had a GPS and rear view camera.They didn’t check if anything was wrong with the car or if I filled the car up with fuel at the drop off.

Absolutely outstanding service! Due to to unforeseen circumstances our plans had changed, hertz Picton kindly accommodated all our needs! I spoke to Mike, Tristan and a lovely lady over the phone, each were so kind and very helpful.I would definitely hire from hertz again! 10/10! Made our journey to the South Island so much easier! Thank you!!

Great service. Staff showed up straight away even though they were closed as our ferry was delayed by a few hours. Very friendly and I was even able to pick up my car a day earlier after calling prior to organise this.

Friendly staff, fast service. One star lost as the drop off is a little walk to the office, which some people may not like. This may be because of the ferry terminal setup however.

Even though we arrived late on a Sunday afternoon, Julie was very friendly and most helpful with our reservation. Car was exactly what we needed, and was in very good condition. Would use them again.
