Do not recommend eating here. Fish burger was huge, fish was old and stale like it had been sitting out all day to dry. Tough and chewy and smelling of strong fish odor.Would have to be the worst ive had in NZ.Maybe try gardening as a business?!Fish and chips is not your thing guys sell up.

Went for a family day outing thought we would stop and get some fish and chips. We ordered 2 donuts, 2 BLUE COD and chips and 2 littlePottles of tartare sauce. We were charged $27 $6.50each for the so called blue cod, $2.70 each a donut, $3.50 chips. BEAWARE IT IS NOT BLUE COD,near freezier burnt RIG at best definitely not fresh!! This place is overpriced and scamming people!! I will not recommend this place to anyone and will further in the future make everyone aware of there behavior as the reviews do not have responses that would meet the customer's expectations.

Absolutely YUCK!. $7 worth of bland, doughy batter! Fish it's self was dry and stringy...even looked freezer burned. Do the boats at the wharf catch frozen fish?

We just past through here, to try the paua and white bait fritters with a piece of battered blue cod n chips. We asked for grilled fish but were told they couldn’t do it. The food was a huge disappointment! Paua looked like they were mashed to the pulp and didn’t even resemble paua and the white bait, I can count the white bait in the fritter and the fritter was disgusting to say the least! It cost $47 what a waste!! Overpriced and poor food!

I recently ordered a burger from Bayside takeaway and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The burger was extremely bland and lacked any flavor or seasoning. It seemed as though it was cooked without any salt or other spices and even may have been a frozen beef paddie. Even the toppings were underwhelming and didn't add any extra flavor to the burger. Overall, I was very disappointed with the quality of the burger and the lack of effort put into making it. I hope that the restaurant can take this feedback constructively and improve their recipe to ensure that their customers have a better experience in the future.

The actual service was great. Lovely staff.The food was not so great. I got a sweet n sour chicken. The chicken was covered in batter, but not the usual consistency or appearance that you would expect for a standard sweet n sour chicken. The amount of chicken vs batter was way off. The taste of the batter was almost stale dag wood dog, that had been briefly doused in sweet n sour sauce. It tasted like the deep fryer needed a clean.Could have been because it was the end of the night on a Sunday. Could have just been a one off, bad, sweet n sour. I don't know.

Great amount of chips however the fish was over cooked, stringy and dry...I threw it away as was inedible which at $7 for a piece of sole wasn't exactly cheap. Very disappointed after being excited at the thought of fresh fish from a seaside town known for fresh fish.

Burgers are great and worth the money.Veggie burger was filled with micro greens, spinach, onions, capsicum and a decent patty. And the large size is huuuge!

Travelling around the South Island in a campervan and had the BEST fish and chips EVER from Bayside. Bought 4 pieces of fish .... crispy batter, fresh fish, absolutely delicious!!! The chips were were crunchy on the outside and salted perfectly. Staying an extra day in Riverton just to get more fish and chips.
