Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge

Amazing lodge with beautifully rustic rooms, the previous owner's life project to build. We loved the rustic Swiss mountain charm and being on the mountain, it totally fits. Lovely hosts, too, and delicious food! We'll be back (so please do NOT tear it down!!)

We booked to stay in one of the more expensive rooms but after arriving, checking out the room and having dinner we left without staying overnight. Recommend you: Put up signs - to reception, car parking and rooms. Clean up - the light bowl above our dinner table was filled with flies. Do basic maintenance - the conservatory in our room had a leaking roof, tiles were missing in the bathroom and the shower pressure was poor to the point of unusable. Change the menu - our very expensive meals were bland, tasteless and unappealing. We had to sign a waiver for any damage to our electrical equipment and announce our dinner choices within minutes of arriving (and before sitting down to eat). Definitely not customer focused. The staff seemed friendly and hospitable enough. You have an incredible building and location and with a little bit of effort this place could be amazing. As a local I would love to see this business thrive. Do the mahi and hopefully it will.

Food was expensive , tasted ok but crumbed fish was overcooked fruit on breakfast table was old. Unfortunately for the price and there was no hot water and water pressure was very low in shower. Bed was comfy room 8s rustic. Location is beautiful.

This place was so cosy and warm. Beautiful scenery. And the food was delicious we will booking anther stay for sure. The managers made us feel so welcome. Keep up the good work guys.

Very friendly service and a relaxed homely atmosphere in an awesome location. Beds super comfortable for a great nights sleep. Managers are very helpful. Food beautifully crafted and tasty. Great for vegetarians too. Bathrooms are being upgraded but the Swiss style decor is very in keeping with the location. Some great walks nearby. I'll be going again for a longer stay

Wonderful rooms with a ton of character. Very clean and tidy. Great meals too. The staff were great (every single one of them). Nothing was too much trouble. I really enjoyed sharing a bottle of wine in front of the fire. Would happily stay again.

What an amazing place! It feels like a Swiss/Austrian/Bavarian mountain chalet.. amazing atmosphere and wonderful old rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the dinner was amazing as well. I would absolutely come back if I could.

Have spent some time deliberating this review with mixed feelings still. Decided on a spur of the moment night here and booked the honeymoon room. Wasn’t quite what I expected, quirky I suppose. The room was clean and tidy but was surprised with how basic it was there was no fridge in the room for own supplies, tv (not that we watch it) and internet wouldn’t load on iPad for even basic operation. I could over look all this as the location is incredible, views stunning, and the staff and host were wonderful. Unfortunately I cannot excuse a terrible bed that gave me back issues and the worst sleep I’ve had anywhere. But what surprised me most was there was only instant coffee, (no barista coffee). Not what I would consider luxury accomodation for the price we paid. Would need an upgrade before we considered another stay.

Flowing up the road under the magnificent tree tunnels you get a sense of travelling to somewhere magical. Upon arrival you will find (if not hidden under cloud) a breath taking view of the upper mountain. New owners are updating the day core and is currently tastefully presented in a mixture of old and new. The three course menu has an option for most pallets with a taste and presentation that wouldn't look out of place in many of our top restaurants. The beds and linen are very comfortable and the rooms kept toasty and warm. Hospitality is very warm and homely where nothing seems to be a problem. Recommended for a quiet get away, to relax and unwind.
