Quoted estimate of 377, charged 688 to my card; I returned the car a full day early but charged an extra 178. The person I booked the car through had double booked me so when I arrived at the airport, there were two cars. Had to take a SUV even though I'd originally booked a Swift (so more money); trying to get an explanation for the extra amount and the extra charge has been a circus - same poor call centre person repeating the same line even though it doesn't answer my question: why was I charged extra. Her response: mumble mumble 'not been through auditing yet.... mumble mumble you'll get your invoice within 7 to 48 hours. Won't be using Budget in the future. Nearly 900 for 4 day hire (pick up Friday; drop off Monday)

Rent 2 tuck , charged 3 times.When you ask why this happen they will treat you like an idiot. When I showing them again again its effpos money out, not pending they will just ignore and keep saying this will refund in next few hours. btw the staff named Asad Ali.The over charged still not refund even when return the truck 4 days later.The branch manager Rohit Kapoor is extremely rude as well, wont listen, wont see the bank statement, ONLY keep saying talk to your bank if you think we are over charge".what a unbelieve story... I been over week and half

The cheapest and the most convenient car rental company. They have lot of options and packages to choose from. The service is available throughout New Zealand.

I honestly have no idea why there's so many bad reviews about this place.I called up with my rapid rez number and had a car booked for pickup in an hour. I did a good 500kms in it driving up to coromandel and hot waters beach. No issues with the car, it was in good condition and incredibly clean. When i returned it I'd left a bit of sand in the foot wells along with a lot of bug splatter. I wasn't charged a cleaning fee, older lady behind the counter was a little grumpy but they were really busy. Young girl for pickup was nothing short of delightful.The price I was quoted is the price I paid, It was a smooth transaction.

They overcharged me. The customer service is a disaster. I would never rent again.

This is the second dreadful Budget experience that has happened to meCar had sand on seat, was dusty and dirty but I was once again charged more than the written quote and twice! Not an 'imprint' and charge but an Imprint and 3 chargesSo. Apparently because I picked up the car 20 minutes early (although when I arrived I did say that I will just wait) I was charged $300 extra. I wonder if I am entitled to a refund for returning early?Seriously the Customer Service people need to start telling people the traps!Last time Budget/Avis

Car collection was uneventful.Both guys at the counters were helpful and polite - the indian and caucasian gentlemen.All paperwork completed within 15 mins and off we went.The car was okay. Nothing to complain about.Frankly, when i saw so many 1 star reviews, i was concerned. But that was unfounded. Thankfully for me, at least.

NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. Highly unreliable, unfair, untrustworthy. Had a horrible experience with Budget Rent a Car (Beach Road, Auckland, NZ). I was charged NZD 1150 on top of my two day rental of 123.5 NZD for a dent they seemed to miss spotting during pickup or intently withheld. What needs to be noted is that the dent in question was on the close to the lower end of the rear wheel arches. The dent had no damage whatsoever to the paint was hardly 1-2mm deep and upto 20mm of such a dent is not chargeable per Budgets policy. I was reassured by the staff at the time of pickup that the vehicle had been inspected and that a few minor things that existing had been duly noted in the condition report" which included a dent but later said to be in a different area of the car. Given the fact that the vehicle looked to be a generally good condition

Terrible experience! I reserved a vehicle and received a confirmation email. I had also received another confirmation email two hours before I was to pick it up. When I arrived they told me they called me to say they cancelled my reservation because there were no cars. I received no phone call and they did not assist me in any way to find another available option. Not sure why they accept reservations when there is no vehicles.When I called to speak with the manager I was met with aggression and she hung up on me during the conversation. Definitely avoid!!

We rented a car through a travel agency which was nil excess and unlimited km's. I was told when collecting the car that I was on a standard rate and the excess would be ~$4000 for an accident! Rang the travel agent who had to sort it out with Budget and I was assured by Budget Auckland Downtown that I would receive an email when sorted, I never did even after ringing them from the road. The travel agent sent through the updated details for me. The vehicle we rented was in good condition and had no issue with it, a Nissan X-Trail.
