The first time I stayed my room was upgraded to a room with a absolutely stunning view no extra charge. The room was clean warm and comfortable. Good shower pressure. Suited me perfectly. Restaurant is opened until 8pm which is very accommodating and served right to your room.I recommend the fish and chips!!! The fish was so fresh and delicious. Definitely the best Ive had in a very long time. The staff are friendly, warm and welcoming. Which is so nice after a 11hr drive.Stayed here a second time, was just another amazing experience. Got the fish and chips again and again the fish was fresh and delicious. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. Second time, another amazing experience. Will be back again.stay. Restauraery accommoding.upgraded our room no extra charge.

I would stay there again in a heart beat. Very happy with staff, meals and room was more than adequate. First time coming up the east coast and will ensure if I do it again I will book here. Sensational. Thank you, even of the weather was not great. More reason to go back!

Spent 2 nights here as a group of 6 in 2 units . The units were clean , comfortable and warm . Nothing flash , but perfect for what we required as we were there for a local fishing charter . The absolute highlight was the steak meal we all had at the restaurant , cooked to perfection , I'd come back here just to dine if I could ! The ladies at the restaurant let us stay on after closing time so that we could watch the Warriors game and take advantage of the bar . Fantastic ladies , warm and welcoming , we felt like we'd known them a lifetime and shared some good laughs and a fair bit of friendly cheekiness . Would definitely recommend this place if you're a down to earth person who just needs a comfortable bed and a good hearty meal . Thanks very much :-)

Turned up as no where else to free camp in our camper. Entered the shop to a adequately loud buzzer. Different folk some obviously staff due to hair nets came and went. After an enordinant amout of waiting we gave up and left. We wernt the only ones waiting for service. I felt sorry for the small child who was also patiently waiting just to purcase a drink. As for the rooms I can't comment but recommend reading other reviews.

My family & I adore this place, we come and stay every year. The new owners have done so much work to it and made so many amazing improvements. The vibe that they bring and greet you with at the door is unmatched and we will continue to come and stay for years to come.

Stayed at the Lodge for two nights and couldn't fault it. The office lady on arrival was very accommodating even though it was later than we hoped to arrive. The Queen Room was spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable... definitely nothing to complain about. The view was second to none and it was very quiet. We awoke to birdsong and a trickling waterfall on the hillside behind the units. The Hicks Bay Lodge is in a remote part of the country and quite isolated from bright city lights" so it's obvious it won't have all the trimmings of the big tourist venues. With that in mind....... our stay was just two nights

Generally old and tired. Reminded me of a facility I stayed at in the 1970's.Staff didn't exhibit a welcoming personality - they were just there to do a job. Information you might have expected to have been told at check-in you had to ask for, e.g. the wi-fi password. We had to wait an hour for our meal and when it arrived our steak was undercooked. Blinds in room were broken. Advertised itself as a Motel Lodge but didn't have facilities in the room that one would expect of a Motel - not even a knife to cut an apple.
