Manukau Memorial Gardens (Manukau Cemetery)

I visited here to find my grandmother's grave site. I used to come when I was alot younger. I hadn't been back for over 35 years. I was quite emotional when my daughter and I found it.

The renovation allowed for more vehicle escorts more pliable and better curb side parking but it is another story getting in through the main entrance during peak traffic hours same with exiting, there tends to be a lot of vehicle traffic going in and out. For visits it is best to go in the early morning when it's opened or later in the evening to avoid burials. A lot cleaner than I last remember it and more spacious.

Wow, what a difference a week makes. I’ve been to the cemetery several times and found the service superb. Just a couple weeks ago, the manager helped me find a plaque on the wall there. Came by yesterday and the staff were so rude. Asked to speak to that nice man who helped me and was told they had made him redundant. Whoever made that decision is a moron of the highest order.

Lovely service for a dear friend. Heaps of room for extra people, chairs were found for many many more than we were expecting. Catering very good. Everything went smoothly, no problems.

Awesome place, so huge and clean the Chapel has many seating capacity and 3 Monitors inside, Grounds well looked after.

beautiful grounds and well looked after. Jonah Lomu is buried here. Worth paying respect. Stick to paths and respect others in park. I paid tribute because Eden Park never acknowledged JL when I did the tour.it's a must. Legend.

I attended my family cremation service inside the chapel.It was peaceful and calm a warmth.2 monitors at the entrance lots of seatingA clean and tidy venue.A monitor also inside so you can show video or video clips of your loved ones

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience having a funeral at the gardens. Firstly, it took over an hour to try and get someone on the phone to make a booking. Making the booking only took a few minutes so I don’t know why there had to be such a long wait.We eventually booked the funeral in but then were rung back in the afternoon to be told that the lounge wasn’t actually available for after the service and we would have to make alternative arrangements. We figured out somewhere to go instead, put a notice in the paper and let everyone know about the funeral.The next day I received a phone call to say they had double booked us completely. You can imagine how stressful that was. We ended up having to change celebrants because she couldn’t make the new time (which was a shame because she had done other family funerals and we really liked her) and had to spend the day ringing people to let them know. Not the best way to spend your time grieving.We had planned for the coffin to be lowered at the end of the funeral and were told this was ok. We were told a few minutes before the ceremony that the mechanism was broken. So we had to rush around among the guests trying to organise for people to carry it out.Honestly, the days after someone you love passing are HARD and stressful. Manukau Memorial Gardens made it harder. I don’t know what is going on that is causing their issues but I hope no one else has to go through the stress of experiencing them.

This old lady at the administration office is rather rude. Booking made weeks ago to show us around the cementary. However, this lady said no one is available to do that and asked us to buy and pay right away. We insisted to have someone to show us around and explaining the options available given that we had already booked weeks ago and finally a polite old man was available.
