I think that if you don't like answering the phone, talking with people, helping them with their enquiries, and being nice with customer, receptionnist is probably not the right job for you. I politely called for a simple information and felt very not welcome nor helped.

I absolutely love the doctors and nurses at this practice I’ve been seeing the wonderful Dr Zarifeh (David) for as long as I can remember but I am not great at looking after myself and don’t make regular appointments. The receptionists make it considerably harder to come in. I actively avoid trying to go to the practice as every single time I’ve called I’ve been met by a cold reception. I have had an issues that can be taken care of quite easily over the phone but have actually been judged by reception (lost a acc referral form). I wish I could give a 5 star review but I’m sad to say that one or two of the staff really make a difference.

Dr Abby Zarifeh was recommended to me, and as a newcomer to Christchurch I was happy to find such a personable and friendly doctor. She has been great with me and my daughter. The nurses have also been great, and we have not had any unpleasant experiences whatsoever.

This place has the best nurse I've ever had. Annoyingly I can't remember her name, but she sounded like she was from maybe Ukraine? She was just lovely. In fact, all the nurses I've ever had at Riccarton Medical Practice have been especially great and so very friendly.

Denise, the receptionist, is incredibly rude and condescending.I’m reading through previous comments and reviews below regarding the reception team and have just experienced this myself today.I’ve been signed up with Riccarton Medical since I was young child, I’ve never had any problems with any of the staff until I had to deal with Denise today. If you’re going to sit on the front desk and be the first point of contact for people who are already feeling low, ill, and vulnerable, I suggest you brush off your customer service skills and school yourself on how to deal with patients empathetically, gracefully, with patience and respect.Do better Denise. Improve your people skills, your attitude lets the rest of the team down, especially the doctors who actually like to help.

We have been going to Liz Mangan, Richard Newman since the began at the practice - approx 18 years..... if not more... We have also seen other doctors, David and Abby Zarifeh and Robyn Bowman. Not once ever ever ever have we found their service to be below 5 stars. The receptionist are always helpful, keeping in mind they are really busy with phone calls, and do there very best - personally I have never ever had a problem with any of the above named Doctors or any of the receptionists or nurses that I have dealt with. My family of 4 all could not speak more highly of them. They always go above and beyond as far as I am concerned. :)

The receptionist is awful - that's putting it very nicely. Then there's the so called doctors - if I listened to their advice on an ankle injury I'd still be laying in bed waiting on a follow up call. After advice from someone who actually cares - I visited a physio who immediately diagnosed and treated my injury. I've lost all faith in general practitioners after being a patient at this practice. I've always been far worse off after visiting. How is that possible? The receptionist should look for a new position inside an active volcano as they will be less miserable there.Edit: I’m on call 24/7 for work and everything is logged. The call never happened. Disgraceful.

We have always been treated with the utmost care and respect whenever we have contacted the practice. The receptionists have made space for us in emergencies and we are very happy that we have been with this practice for over 30 years. we come in from out of town as we have always been happy with our experiences.Richard Newman, our family doctor, always gives the time required and we have utmost confidence in him. He is also very good at referring you to specialists if there is a need. The nurses are fabulous. Very caring and friendly.

Having read the reviews and the responses from the Practice Manager, it is obvious to me that the Practice Manager is a greater problem than the other unprofessional parts of the service, which patients have been describing here. The Practice Managers responses here include multiple, classic non-apology apologies I'm sorry you feel that way"

I do have to agree with everyone else here I've been coming to the same place for years, I think only now that I'm older I've realised it's actually not normal for receptionists to be rude and condescending in nature. I've once forgotten to let them know I had arrived and felt scolded like in school? I'm sorry I made one mistake while I was unwell it is not the end of the world it's such a first world problem. I always thought well that's how they are here. Go to the dentists round the corner and see how their receptionists are. The nicest human beings you will ever come across. It's such a pity that they have such great Doctors, however to get to see them you have to go through such unfortunate reception staff as the first point of contact. Further solidifying this is the numerous one star ratings on here showing that I am not alone in feeling this way.You should all be working as a team, If you don't like your role or dealing with customers then maybe a career change might be for you? You should never feel like you're in a working environment you're not happy in.However a 5 stars for the ladies who saw me at my car. They were kind and understood how I was feeling and were excellent! Please pass that onto them.Fast forward 18/08/2021I come after two weeks of short of breath severe asthma and the flu and get told I am hyperventilating. Least to say I'm not hyperventilating 24/7 in my sleep going up stairs and exercising I can't do anything without being out of breath. Thanks for at least not charging me for the visits.12/09/2022Tired of being given the wrong inhalers. Are you color blind?
