400yrs old limestone cave is stunning, and adding the glow worm makes it magical. We were led by the guide to a dark path and when everyone was ready. Lights on and the magical tour beginsBut in less than 30 minutes of the tour. One of the kids started crying. Pity the guide that he has to raise his voice, trying to explain everything about the cave. N the cries carry on throughout the rest of the tour.It was such a pity that a peaceful and magical tour had become a crying tour.Everyone in the group seems relieved and shaking their heads after the tourThere should be restrictions on age limit to prevent the same thing from happening.

Really cool bush walk. You can see the glow worms at night without paying the high price of the cave tours and can take a camera.

A truly wonderful and an amazing place. Beautiful limestone formations and you get so close to glow worms and their strings If you come from Te Kuiti do not come across on Tumutumu road unless you have a 4x4.

Great cave and tour. Much longer than expected and some great formations. River running through and plenty of glow worms up and close.

Can't say enough good things about this tour! It's more off the beaten path compared to the other cave tours in the area and that made it even better. The tour felt more personalized and more informative than other tours. We learned so much about caves, Māori history, and glowworms. It's also all wheelchair accessible which makes this a cave for everyone. Staff are incredibly knowledgeable and are willing to answer any questions you have regarding the caves. Don't miss out on Ruakuri if you're in the Waitomo area.

A magical experience for all ages. An easy walk, fully accessible. The guide was great, and provided really interesting insights on the caves, rocks, glowworms, history etc. Lighting was really beautiful. Don't bother bringing a backpack, you aren't allowed to carry anything except a camera. Photos are allowed in this cave.

Great place and amazing view in the cave! While if you arrive too early in the morning you might be locked out because the staff is not there. While they are friendly and professional. The photo here is the visitors centre, you won't see it in Google map street view.

Part of the Waitomo caves franchise. There are three caves to explore and come in different packages, went ahead with the Waitomo and Ruakuri tours. Waitomo caves had a walk down the caves and then a small boat tour through the glow worm cave , no photography allowed but the experience was worth it if you just observe in silence. Ruakuri caves had a nice spiral entrance with different cave formations, the team or management really take good care of the place to make sure it is well preserved.
