Had to cancel my booking because 2 of our group lost their jobs because of covid, did it 48 hours after booking and they won't refund my $538 . Not very nice at all.

VM3:Really neat people to deal with at Ruapehu Chalet Rentals. Website is super easy to use and make a booking for your desired Crib. From memory, a deposit is taken at the time of booking, and then the balance is charged to your card before arrival.Picking up the keys from their office is also easy. Located directly opposite New World, it's really central. Staff were all friendly and offered really clear directions and information on our Crib. They also give you a large pouch filled with Maps, Pamphlets and Local Information, a Prepaid Rubbish Bag, and also some Kindling for the woodburner. Note regarding the Rubbish - the Supplied bag is really small, however more can be purchased from New World. Also note that the Dump in Ohakune is closed on certain days - meaning we did have to take all our rubbish back to the Bay of Plenty. We found our Crib in Rangataua no trouble at all. Gorgeous views of Ruapehu from the front of the property. Large Kitchen and Living Area, with a big Dining Table and Lounge Suite. The kitchen had all the stuff you needed to cook decent meals - just as you would at home. (However Kune does have some excellent eating options)The Crib had 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Bathroom was lovely and large, with a really decent shower. 1 bedroom had a Queen Bed, and was also large enough to lay down a Portable Bed for a Toddler. Another room had a small double bed, and the other had 2 single beds. The 2 single beds were DREADFUL. Like they need to go straight to the dump. I got barely any sleep during our 3 night stay. In desperation in the early hours of the last night, I took to the couch to try and get some sleep. The Owners of this Crib really need to sort that urgently. We also found a lot of the Electric Blankets on the Beds didn't work at all. It was only when one of us piped up at Breakfast about it, that we realized it was a problem several of us had. My Mate did tell the Staff upon checkout about it, and they were quick to make note of it, so I have no doubts this will be sorted. We found the home really warm, even with a couple of frosty mornings. Having the Heatpump on in the evenings and first thing in the mornings kept the place at a perfect temperature.Overall, we did find the cleanliness of the place really quite poor. Especially the dust and cobwebs. The table cloth was stained and was actually stuck to the table with some sort of sticky residue. Certainly needs a decent Spring Clean and regular dusting to keep up on it all. It was a case of us definitely leaving the place cleaner than when we found it.Rangataua is a perfect place to stay. Close enough to Kune (less than 5mins drive) for all the amenities, but still retaining that country quiet. For my American friends, it was paradise, and for this ex Local, it was pretty awesome. The only noise being the rumble of the occasional train rolling through. The house was far enough away from the Railway that it really was only a distant rumble. So all in all, we found our experience with Ruapehu Chalet Rentals really decent, but we found the Crib needed a bit more cleaning, and also for those two single beds to be carted off to the dump immediately! Not being able to sleep definitely is a good way to ruin a holiday. So yeah, do not hesitate to book with these guys. They have hordes of options to choose from and what I thought were reasonable rates and conditions.

Be prepared that the house you rent will be in an average condition, but after you leave they will demand it to be ideal, otherwise you'll be fined from the bond. If you can - try to avoid this company and rent something else.UPD: an update to comment on their response:1. When we arrived we also found dirty cups and plates and cleaned them (we did not consider this as a problem)2. We have found no dishwashing liquid in the kitchen downstairs3. Downstairs it was smelling like a small animal died (presumably it was a mouse in a mouse trap)4. There was barely any dishwashing in the kitchen upstairs5. We found a whole carrot under the sofa when we vacuumed it6. The fireplace was full of ashes7. So obvious urine spots in the bathroom upstairs so that we had to clean it, otherwise it looked disgusting to use it8. Our office had been in contact with emails back and forth to ask what had happened." --- They did not respond on the email with the problems I enumerated above.9. "as it was not left tidy as per terms and conditions" --- this is simply not true10. "it took our crew 3 hours to clean the chalet" --- this is sounds like another joke. After I found a carrot (lol) under the sofa

We were disappointed with the rental we had as the place was not the cleanest, the bedding was not clean and had human fluid stains on it.If you're in a wheelchair make sure to inquire about the bedroom arrangement as all our rooms were up a narrow set of stairs - so not disabled friendly at all.
