Really nice atmosphere, very neutral but lot with candles with a beautiful view. Warm, friendly and attentive staff.Great ribs! $20 for a full meal, and a pint! Incredible. Weds Thurs Friday $20 meals, and also good balanced but simple menu offering some really good, classic food.Definitely worth bringing a couple of mates, a date, or the family!Highly recommended.

Young James was very pleasant and a pleasure to be served by, lots of help when ordering food, that was medioka. And expensive. Take note of the dessert size for $14.00. RIPPED OFF!!!!.Our hostess wasn't very talkative when delivering our meals and I was disgusted at the state of her work smock covered in fat splatters and generally disgusting considering she was in front of the house with customers.Thank you James for making our evening entertaining and enjoyable.

Super surprised at the quality of the food. Salt and Pepper Calamari was light and flavourful, fried perfectly. Ditto with the Peri Peri Chicken. Crumbed and seasoned beautifully and rhe chicken was perfectly cooked. The side salads had a beautiful mint and sweet dressing that was so refreshing, I actually wanted more salad, and that never happens. Top service to boot, great little café. Won't be my last visit that's for sure.

The salmon was equally impressive, boasting a succulent texture and a flavorful seasoning that elevated the dish.However, we encountered an issue with the lamb shank, as it turned out to be disappointingly dry. Thankfully, the attentive staff promptly addressed our concern and replaced it. This demonstrates their commitment to ensuring a positive dining experience.The overall environment at Salt on the Pier is pleasant, providing a welcoming atmosphere that adds to the enjoyment of the meal. The service was commendable, with the staff being attentive and accommodating.To conclude, while the dry lamb shank was a hiccup in our experience, the excellent beef steak, flavorful salmon, and the attentive service compensate for it. Salt on the Pier remains a worthwhile dining destination in Christchurch, offering a variety of delicious options in a pleasant setting.

What a joke of a cafe...1. Egg & bacon slider heated in the microwave and served. No idea that within a couple of minutes the bread becomes rubber.2. Same with their scones..lesser said is better. Everything is heated in the microwave and served. No concept of how long you need to heat before serving!3. Coffee served is totally cold. Server looks totally uninterested to listen (anyways I am not judging).4. Only saving grace is the chips served hot and crispy.Sorry thank you but no thank you!!

I went there with my kids and friend last night.The restaurant is perfect for family gatherings and the food, which is quite delicious and authentic. The place is surely worth a try! Very attentive staff and they're keen to make the customers comfortable. I just loved everything about this place.
