The Green Parrot Cafe
Service a bit poor, menu was short of what's meant to be the meal ordered, chips tasted like theve been warmed up and not good value for money I've been a customer at this place for a long time how things have changed.

This place offers good value for money. Good service, honest food. If you are hungry then stop here. Nothing fancy, just honest home-style cooking with generous portions. The restaurant service is all clean and good with friendly staff. The washroom facilities are situated at the back behind 2 closed doors. One improvement they could make would be to keep the extractor fan running at all times in this area.

Would give it 2.5 stars. While I recognise the Green Parrot's status as a Wellington icon, the standard of the food was just not worth the price unfortunately.

Iconic and nostalgic. Very very large portions. Would recommend the whole Flounder. The Mixed Grill" is a challenge yet to be achieved."

Awesome cafe. Beautiful steaks cooked well. Their Mixed Grill has to be my favourite. The schnitzel is also really tender and juicy.

Was recommended to try this place, I’m on holiday here in Wellywood these few days. Awesome that this place was established since 1926! Love the mixed omelette (has ham, mushroom and tomatoes!) and the pork chops. So old school nostalgia. Unfortunately the hot chocolate was nothing to shout about. Otherwise this would have been a 5-star place.

Large plates of food. However, taste and texture was a bit off for my taste. I could have been having a bad day though.

I’m so confused by the star rating of this restaurant! We had dinner on our only night In Wellington last Saturday (1/10/22). It was the worst restaurant experience of my life, and the most expensive. Firstly we were given a plate of 3 pieces of stale bread and a tiny bowl with hard cubes of butter drenched in condensation. When our steaks finally came, mine, the fillet which cost $52, came with fries that were very plain, a pile of pre-prepared potato salad and a few small pieces of some type of lettuce! At least half of my steak was full of fat, it was impossible to cut, let alone chew. My husband had the sirloin at $48, same thing, he couldn’t even get a fork through the fat.But worse than the food was not getting an apology or discount when bringing this to the attention of the waitress.I simply cannot believe that The Green Parrot has a good reputation. I would never recommend wasting time or money there!!!
