Masa Japanese Restaurant & Bar
The service was amazing, they were respectful and knew Japanese! (I’m learning) the food was really good and arrived quickly, you could see them make some of it in front of you! The atmosphere was amazing, highly recommended if you want authentic japanese food

Oh my gosh, this place was recommended to me and I thank that person for showing me this place. To start we had beautiful service, a drink was offered then the menu was explained. Probably the most tasty food I've ever had in Palmy hands down. There are some great places to eat but if you haven't been here you are missing out! Amazing!

Oh. My. Goodness. I have finally found a reason to come to Palmerston North. This place is amazing. My wife described it as 'insanely awesome'. Take from that what you want but the food is the best we have enjoyed for a long long time. You will need to be patient as it's prepared while you wait that helps to make it brilliant. I would give this 10 stars if I could. Go there. Just go and enjoy like we did last night.

We were first customers through the door upon opening. When asked if we had made a reservation, which we had not, the host in the hanbok(?) seemed greatly inconvenienced. As we were speaking she interrupted me mid sentence “I need to see the customers who made a reservation” running off to two others who walked through the doors. We were seated first but the menus and orders were taken from the reservations that arrived after. The food is slightly above average for a rural NZ town - but by no means anything spectacular. The tempura batter is far too thick, agedofu was not fresh and the norimaki rice was crunchy meaning it was not fresh either. If you don’t like walk ins, you must communicate that with signage or the like. From previous reviews I can see this isn’t the first time this has happened and you haven’t rectified it. What could’ve been a nice meal was made very disappointing from the beginning exclusively due to the service.
