Carrington Tours
We used Carrington Tours for our cast and crew, and we were very pleased with the service. We booked Carrington Tours for round trip airport transfers and trip to Raglan and Tauranga during our 13-days filming in New Zealand. Everything went smoothly and efficiently. John was prompt and patient, and accommodated our numerous inquiries and requests, from the planning stage of our trip until our last day in Auckland. John was very warm and helpful. The vehicles were spotlessly clean, roomy, and comfortable. We were a sizeable group which included the director, the DOP traveling with our cast, and John made sure that our different needs were met and that our time with them was pleasant and comfortable. Such excellent service from our arrival to our departure ensured us a lovely first time in New Zealand! Would definitely call them again for future visits and highly recommend them to others.Sara S.Associate Producer

After 2.5 weeks in New Zealand, my best friend and I decided to cap our trip off with the Hobbiton Evening Banquet + Tour. At this point we were based in Auckland and definitely did not want to hire a car and self-drive. I checked out Hobbiton's list of recommended companies and discovered Carrington Tours as one of the options. I checked out their site and found that it was family-owned and that they could indeed pick up and take us back to Auckland after. Fiona got back to me super fast after I had sent in my inquiry and I found them to be incredibly easygoing and affable to speak with. After a little back and forth to figure out logistics I was easily able to pay and we were locked in for our date! They took care of booking the Hobbiton tickets for us.Fiona and John were always easy to communicate with and checked in with us as the date of our tour approached (since we had booked so far in advance) and soon enough the day came for our tour. John met us in the lobby of our hotel and immediately Chynna and I knew we were in for a great trip. He picked us up in a beautiful Jeep Grand Cherokee and even had bottled water for us available during the ride. The drive out of Auckland was easy and John - himself a farmer (and very proud Kiwi) - pointed out a ton of landmarks and a lot of info about the natural landscape of the Waikato region. Once we found out about his own background we asked him a ton of questions about music and travel and rugby, animal husbandry, sheep and cattle. The drive was super comfy and he even fit in a 30 minute flat white stop for us (even though he doesn't drink coffee, ha). Not only was John super knowledgeable, he was also incredibly warm and most importantly hilarious.Upon arrival at the Shire's Rest, John let us shop while he took care of getting the tickets and setting us up. Soon after we were on our way and the Hobbiton team took over giving us a sunset tour of Hobbiton followed by an incredible feast.Once the tour was done, we were driven back to Shire's Rest and John was already there and waiting for us to take us home. Though he pre-warned us that many folks who take this tour end up snoozing (at this point it was nearly 9pm and it was about a 2 hour drive back to our Auckland CBD hotel), Chynna and I stayed up the entire time because John kept us informed and entertained (he also has excellent taste in music so the jams in the car were great). We chatted about everything from Lord of the Rings to practising our Maori and learning about Mount Te Aroha and everything in between.Carrington is the best tour company to go with if you're not only wanting safe passage from Point A to Point B (and back), but also people who are genuinely passionate and excited about the beautiful country they live in, who are happy to share it with visitors like me. I am so happy to have met John (on top of having a blast at Hobbiton) and the smiles in the photos attached should speak volumes. Thank you John and Fiona! If you're ever back in Canada just reach out. :)
