Whisper to the Birds
Went with family (2 adults, 2 kids - 4 and 11) to visit Port Chalmers and Orokonui. Our guide was great, explaining historical anecdotes about Port Chalmers or the birth of the sanctuary, and was knowledgeable about the birds.We saw a lot of birds in the sanctuary: kaka, tui, bellbirds...While it was winter (July 2021), the day was mild and the sanctuary was nice to visit; we stayed for about 2 hours in. The cafe at the entrance had simple, yet satisfying food and excellent coffee.It was convenient to be picked up from a central location as we did not have a car for our stay.Would heartily recommend for travelers interested in nature.
