Rodney Removals

My partner had been recommended by a moving company found in the North shore times to this company, Rodney removals limited as the first moving company had been fully booked. The boss of Rodney removals Craig, had specifically told my partner that the cost of hiring two men and a vehicle is $115 inclusive of GST. Through several text messages, it was established that the move will not take longer than three hours but all other hidden cost were not revealed.On the day of the move, which is today, they were 15 minutes late, and an extra man popped out of no where and the most of the movers were elderly, two of which were in their 60s. The move itself was ok though not professional as my partner was assisting them in getting some boxes out of the storage. They were struggling to get the boxes onto the truck with no system of loading and unloading the items to be moved.They took approximately 2 and 1/4 hours for the move itself but when it was time to sort out the bill, we were charged for at least 4.5 hours and it totalled $560. The owner Craig claimed the time taken for the truck to travel from and back to the original point of departure which is Stanmore Bay is included. That works out to be $300 for transportation cost! That is day light robbery! Craig also insisted the bill to be written as $400 so that he can pay his two other workers $80 in cash each. That is absolutely ridiculous! My partner maintained his stand in getting the GST receipt with the proper amount written on it. Craig just sloppily over wrote 560 over the 400 which he had originally written.He is utterly dishonest when it comes to cost and we believe we are not the only ones being swindled by this company. We do feel the need to let the public know so that no one will be put into this predicament again. If anyone knows of any other tradesman review website, please kindly post this and warn everyone else.Shame on you, Rodney Removals Limited especially its owner Craig! Karma will deal with you in time!

I find them very good, we had a huge move and they are happy to oblige even if you don't have a full truck.I certainly will use them again.

Craig is an honest man. About the recent review regarding rubbish that was dumped. He went back to take the rubbish away later on. He does his best and has efficient methods to protect furno. Well looked after large truck.

Stay away! worst experience,3 guys turned up yesterday, one terribly dressed- looked like they collected him half drunk off the curb side on their way, They were unprofessional and complained constantly!Halfway through the job (office move) they asked me to get another truck (at 2.30pm after 2 hours of packing!) because the guys didn’t want to finish.Then they didn’t want to offload at the other end so took my stock home for the night. Yes…. They refused to finish and left my stock on the truck!The owner returned this morning to my shop with the scruffy looking man in the same clothes as yesterday, and another guy to unpack truck.I paid $1275 for Coast 2 Coast for this complete mess! I have hired another company to help me fix it.

The people employed by Craig are questionable. He was clean and fresh well dressed; his people smelled bad, looked like they had hangovers. It was a big move and we had a lot of household rubbish that needed to be dumped. One of the employees said he could do it. I thought it was part of Craigs service and agreed. This employee dumped our rubbish at the side of the road. It wasn't part of Craigs service I find out, and this employee is homeless. Good grief how can you take these people into clients homes. I have been publicly shamed on social media for this dumping. Do not recommend this company purely for the fact the employees are suspect.

Used these guys some time ago and they quoted a truck and two guys. Turned up with 3 guys, one an older alcoholic who did next to nothing and then I got charged for him as well. The other two guys would've been fine and just as productive without him. Unfortunately he seemed to be running the show. Just weird.

BE AWARE!!!!! After deal with them, I have to asked legal advices, and called police to report this case as I being threatened by them and called commerce commission. Now sent them an official letter, will go further in legal process if they can't solve the problem properly.

Such a horrible experience, not professional at all, I booked 4 weeks ago for this coming Saturday and when I called to confirm some details he basically told me he can’t help me, no explanation as to why, was rude and dismissive then tried to pass me onto someone else and hung up on me. If I hadn’t have called he never would have communicated that he was no longer able to do the job. Would not recommend if you’re wanting professional and reliable

Be aware!!!!We booked Rodney removalsTo move our three bedroom house.I was quoted by Craige $150 per hour for three men and a Truck with no extra costs. Fantastic I thought, get the job done quick!!On the day of the move, I had a few friends to help us move house, they all arrived at my house at 8:30 in the morning.Rodney removals was booked for 8.30 am, but didn’t arrive until 9.am!Prior to the truck turn it up, a random man arrived stating that he was there to help with the move. He had clearly been out drinking all night and was still drunk on the day, he could not even talk properly and absolutely stank.All he did was shout!Finally the truck arrived, Only to be toldCraig has hurt his arm and that now we only have two men to do the removals! Along with the drunk!I had three young children with me but had to listen to foul language coming from the removal guys loading the truck!Finally the truck was loaded, two of the men got into the truck and drove off leaving the drunk at my house. My youngest daughter is disabled so I had to carry her to the car outside my house where the drunk was shouting and cursing the Guys in the truck because they left him! Not professional at all !Fortunately I had good friends to help with the move, as who knows how long The move would’ve taken with just to men !Finally the job was done and I was told by Craig to give $200 cash to guys in the truck and transfer the rest of the costings but bank transfer. I agreed with the guys in the Truck that The job took 2 1/2 hours, but was then told I had to pay 15 minutes travel time as well! This was a surprise!When I spoke to Craig about the extra travel time of 15 minutes I was corrected and told it was 30 minutes travel time, not 15 minutes.This was not included in the quote given over the phone and I have been told that every removal company will charge travel time! Fair enough, but I’m sure the company could’ve worked out the distance and quoted me the travel time as well.Also, when I booked Rodney Removals, I had to pay a $50 deposit but this was not offered this back or Deducted from the bill.I’m not going to be one of Rodney removals victims but out of courtesy I have paid The 15 minutes travel time along with the total cost of 2 1/2 hours.!They guys did a good job at moving our furniture and I thank them but please..RODNEY REMOVALS... sort it out!Would I recommend RODNEY REMOVALS.... NO!! Never!!

Caused a lot of damage to brand new furniture and property. Tried to add on more hours then worked, and charged for 3 movers - one of which wasn’t there for over half the time and the other couldn’t lift anything. Sadly Would not recommend.
