Mangere Mountain
Great mountain to visit with excellent view all round, so close to Auckland and an easy way to the top. Takes about 20-30mins to walk if you go the short way. One of the few hills left where there is a carpark close to the summit. Be sure to stop by at Amberley Park if you have the time, which is only several kms from here.

My place of peace, local and quiet if there is no sports on. Nice view. Nice place to kick back and the let the kids run around, weather its the skate park or playground or walk up to the summit or just plant yourself under a tree looking at the view.

Nothing like a bit of time outdoors looking for a good walk to the summit or have a picnic with the family at the new playground / skatepark and courts. Parking is very limited for the playground best to park at the hall or club rooms. Note at the moment the toilets at the playground were not available at my time of visit.It will also house a public bookable permanent hangi pit in the future.

Fantastic mountain to climb for great views out across the Manukau Harbour or out across Auckland to Onehunga and One Tree Hill. The recent fire on the mountain shows great signs of recovery with it now being hardly noticeable. The pines have been recently felled as part of restoring the mountain back to native fauna. Sadly attempts at replanting have been done very poorly and the saplings are dying. Also the stumps have been left as ugly scars that detract and hopefully will be removed as part of the restoration.

Great views for a not very arduous a journey. Did the climb on our first morning in NZ and was not disappointed. Really cool park for the little ones at the base of the mountain. Also shout out to whoever cleans the toilets here, they had them spotless!

Free to visit this wonderful little mountain. If you love hiking but not like to go higher this is the best place. It will not take atleast 4hr to go to the mountain and come back.

Mangere Mountain
One of a few volcanic mountains in Auckland. Like the rest, it’s scenic. An easy walk for local residents for fitness or just relaxation. Keep your car locked at all time.
