The Remarkables Ski Area
First time to ski in Queenstown, the remarkables ski field. First day we arrived at 9:30 and the car parks were all full so need to take shuttle bus to the top, and missed the morning class, the remaining days we arrived at 7am and parked at #1 car park, which was 200 meter walk to the hall. The coaches were very instructive and helpful, the foods are reasonably priced, the all access life price is cheaper than Australia, and the kids loved it.At middle of the road there is a lookout, highly recommended to stop and check it out, magnificent views of the lakes, snow mountains and the city.

If you love mountain views, skiing/snowboarding, this is the place for you. After having fresh snow, it's an amazing place to ski/snowboard. The facilities are top notch, its clean and majority of the staff are friendly and helpful. Only thing I would ask them to work on is their shuttle service from car park 4. We were waiting in line from 8am, and only got up to the ski field at 10am. If the wait time is going to be that long, put a portable toilet in car park 4 for kids/pregnant women/elderly etc. On the way down, there was a big bus to shuttle us back to car park 4, but the driver refused to open the boot so everyone had to carry all their gear, bags and sort out their kids too. It was a mission. This can be done better.

Skiing and facilities are nice but the bus system could use work. The bus drivers themselves are great and extremely helpful but the new reservation system they put in often leads the buses running below capacity even though you’re often told the earlier buses are all sold out and have to take a later one. While they do try to backfill buses as much as they can it’s up to you how much you want to gamble and turn up to the bus stop earlier than your booked time and see if they can fit you on. Getting down is another story with a lack of staff at later hours sometimes allowing people to cut the line and sneak on the bus and other Remarkables staff members consistently cut the line??? Causing actual paying customers who have been waiting much longer to wait for the next bus??? Worst thing is that other staff members (sometimes the ones organising the bus) seem to notice it happening and yet do nothing to rectify this gross unprofessionalism

Visited two days, luckily the weather was nice so road conditions didn’t impact the access. Unfortunately if you want to have a fantastic ski experience I won’t recommend Queenstown as infrastructure doesn’t feel friendly to ski enthusiasts, not to mention terrible traffic at town centre. Among all ski resorts around the globe, Queenstown ski resorts look like third world to me.

Very good spot, nice temperature a little less snow than usual but that can’t be helped. Very good runs and a swift queue all in all 10/10

We were not impressed with the ski school for our two kids.We were there last week during July 10-12 2023 and our 6 y.o. son couldn't find his instructor after the lunch break. The staff asked our son for his teacher's name but he couldn't remember (he's only 6 after all). We, as parents, ask to see a list of kid groups but that list didn't exist. After waiting for a while, our son ended up being pushed to another group. He was unhappy about that. We were told our 6 years old was supposed to remember his teacher name from the morning. The staff deflected all the blame. It sincerely tinted what could have been a good first ski school experience for our two kids.

It was my family's first time to visit NZ in winter. They all came in to experience snow as it can't be seen in the tropical country. Our plan was for my nephew (7 years old) to try skiing by doing some ski lessons. We also had a toddler with us who would like to play with snow. I decided to book a bus going to The Remarkables as I haven't been there myself (after being in NZ for 10 years) and I was not confident to drive after hearing some stories on how winding and high the road is.I gave 1 out of 5 for everything as it was very unorganized.First, we booked the 10:30 AM going to the Remarkables. The website indicates the number of seats available so I was expecting that getting on the bus wouldn't be so chaotic. However, when we got to the bus stop and waited for our 10:30 AM bus to arrive, there was already a long queue of passengers. The 10 AM bus arrived late and picked up the passengers just before 10:30 AM. They overbooked their seats for the 10:30 AM bus. The bus that was supposed to pick up all the 10:30 AM passengers could not accommodate everyone so we had to wait for the second bus.Second, when we got to the ski site, the queue for the rental and customer service was ridiculously long. We waited for more than an hour before we got to the front. At this point, my family was no longer interested to go skiing and decided just to do sightseeing instead.Third, since the queue has been very long, they ran out of shoes that will fit my dad and brother. We ended up refunding their tickets. For the refund, we had to queue up again.Fourth, since my brother and dad could no longer join us and we'd already wasted almost two hours just by queuing up, we decided to get some lunch, which also disappoints us as there were no seats available for our group and the tables were so unorganized. There is also a queue in the cafe.Lastly, after having a quick lunch, we then ran to the chair lift to do our sightseeing only to be greeted by the staff that there was no sightseeing due to strong winds at the top. Guess what happened next? We had to go to the queue again to refund all our tickets.Overall, we only wasted our day doing nothing. The only positive about going up to the Remarkables is the scenic drive to and from the ski site.

Spent 2 days on the mountain with kids. We made sure to get up early and got to the top park. Snow was a bit thin but we made the most of it and the snowboarding side of the trip was decent.Cost it outrageous. I know this is NZ but we shouldn't put up with it and tourists should know.I paid $159 for the day and decided to go back the next day but they wouldn't give me the 2 day discount? Why not? Just to skim another $40 out of me.The food, drinks, everything is exorbitantly priced though somewhat decent. If you want to come to NZ for a snow trip you will be disappointed - Japan does this way better.

We travelled in early July which was very early in the season & were planning to see the Remarkables. At the time there wasnt much anow so 1 of the other mountains was closed, & all of the guests that were booked there ended up on The Remarkables. There was a lot of instructors & staff, but even so, there were far too many people on the slopes. It was beautiful & so much fun, but when you struggle to get going because theres too many people on the slopes, it reduces the experience. There should be a maximum capacity. Still had a great experience though. Would recommend taking some of your own food as they charge a lot in the restaurant.

Toby is a legend instructor, our favourite!! Even though he sends us into places with mass holes and hyped us up for jumps as first timers the near insurance claim experiences were slay and he is so much fun.
