Highly recommended, very friendly place to stay. Owner's and guests very friendly, we had some very interesting conversations. Nice to sit and relax in the evening with other guests and listen to their travel stories.Room was clean and spacious with a comfy bed.Well equipped shared kitchen and community room's.

linda is such an amazing woman, i had everything i needed, beautiful and warm place, huge kitchen with all the equipment, clean toilet snd hot showers, beautiful garden outside, the environment and decorations are just perfect. stayed for one night with my tent but felt like home, the dog and the cat are juat a bonus!

My stay here was great for the price. The backpackers are up the road from the town centre and McDonalds. They have rooms named after different animals and all the rooms looked great and match the themes really well. They have a spa, free bikes, TV room and kitchen as well so has all you need!

Wonderful backpackers! I stayed in a 5-bunk female dorm, and it was very comfortable! Nice showers, great kitchen, lovely lounge area. The outside area is so nice too! Very close to the city center, and great prices! Quiet and relaxing stay!

Best thing about this place are the themed rooms. Very creative decor with murals reflecting the animal the room is named after. I loved the concept! It’s very conveniently located and within walking distance to the shopping area by the river, supermarket, warehouse and the train station. A decent sized kitchen and lounge for guests, with an upper floor balcony you can watch the sunset at - beautiful. Agree with another reviewer about the lack of power sockets, especially near the beds.

Great well kept hostel. My wife and I stayed in a nice double room, at a fair price, and enjoyed the friendly reception, as well as the great facilities (well equipped kitchen, comfortable dining area, etc.)All in all, a great choice.

Super nice and friendly hostel. Perfect place to stay before and after enjoying the paparoa great walk.The staff is super friendly and helpful! And they are always keen to have a good chat!Definitely recommend this hostel!Cheers guys!

I'd recommend American and Canadian tourists not to stay here. On two separate occasions, I was in tears due to harassment/bullying/discrimination. I am a kiwi/American and it didn't feel safe" for me. When I asked for another duvet on arrival due to toothpaste (another white liquid) on it and asked for a replacement I got bullied/chastised. I got treated like a 3 year old child."
