Give this man the gold stars! People laughed at me when I said I was going to cold call and take my chances just walking into a car hire place. I googled and the name Shoestring appealed as I didn't want to pay through the nose for some fancy top of the range vehicle. Cameron is a busy man, but he pulled a great car out of the bag for a great price (just happened to have had a cancellation the night before!) Yes I was lucky, but he made it all so easy and efficient. I had 9 days exploring places I just couldn't have done without a car. Thank you so much Cameron.Bella UK.

I was looking for a cheap rental car and found this company on the Tourism New Zealand website. Cameron the owner is a good guy. We were picked up at our hotel. The car return was also 400 meters from the airport, so we were able to walk. We recommend this company.

Fantastic communication and service from Cameron. The Car itself was superb, and the hire price was great. The whole process made my trip rock! The pluses of hiring from Shoestring: firstly, personal service - Shoestring met me at the airport, and the biggest plus - on dropping the car back (my flight was at 630am) I could just leave it in a place 3 minutes walk from the terminal - most if not all the other budget hire companies have compounds a long way away, thus making a super early in the morning return a headache.THANKS SHOESTRING!!

Shoestring Rentals should be the only place you look at booking a car in Christchurch. Their service is second to none and kiwi owned and operated. Their communication and product is top notch every time we book, and an added bonus is they are so affordable and accommodating. I wish they were in more spots around nz!

We were supposed to have a hire car through Shoestring Rentals on an upcoming holiday to NZ, but had to cancel at short notice due to my father's extreme ill health. I contacted Cameron and he was just so empathetic and helpful. He had been super helpful during the booking process even emailing us personally with maps and instruction for car collection, then offering to pick us up as my parents are old. Cameron again extended a very personable and sincere response due to our unfortunate circumstances. I cannot rate this company enough - so grateful, THANK YOU. I aim to travel with my husband in 2024 and will definitely use this company. Outstanding old-fashioned service and great prices - nothing is a problem - amazing.
