Conical Hill Lookout

This is a pleasant steady walk up the hill. The view at the top was worth the effort. The actual start of the walkway is not overly well marked, but we were park nearby and find the start of the walk

Loved it. The basket that holds the walking sticks made by the mens shed was really cute and helped us climb the windy path too the top.We were up there on a foggy morning which won't a really nice atmosphere to the place.

Zig-zag walking, a little bit steep but the view at the end is totally worth.It takes about 20 mins to walk, make sure you don’t wear too many clothes and bring one jacket as you will sweat!

Always enjoyable!I have done the Conical Hill Walk up to the Lookout many times in the last 2 decades, and I find it enjoyable always!The walk starts very steep from the base, where an excellent toilet facility is located. The climb is gradual and relatively steep. Most of the walk is in shade, and we can hear birds chirping.The lookout provides an excellent vantage point to see good views all around. No matter what the weather is - winter or summer - the views on a good day are superb!The walk up and down also helps in building up an appetite, and I am always ready for lunch at the Rustic Cafe in town after completing the walk. I get the feeling of having “earned my lunch” upon completing this walk.

Absolutely stunning, especially on a good day when you can see for miles. Such breathtaking views. It's a steady uphill walk all the way to the top, and the knees like to complain on the way down, but the sights at the top are worth the effort.Obviously not really wheelchair friendly but there are toilets close to the start of the walk.It recommends 60min return walk, I did this in 35mins at a good pace, not including the time taken to enjoy the views.

Great adventure and a must do attraction if you get to Hanmer Springs. We walked up fairly easily with a toddler on my shoulders and it was exciting with a variety of birds and mushrooms to see along the way. The views from up top are gorgeous. If you go during sunset or sunrise, the views are even better. Will visit again.

Always a great (& short) hike up to the top with gorgeous scenery & bush. The kids love to go up the short cuts! Worth a visit & it’s a great place to take some snacks or a picnic and soak in the surroundings.

Great little walk up above Hanmer. It is a nice gradual incline that will take about 15 to 20 minutes up through the trees. The views of the town have now been lost a little by the tree growth but the surrounding scenes are pretty.

You head up a zigzag track thru mature trees to a lookout which gas great views of Hanmer Springs and the surrounding mountains. The are toilets at the start of the track. The track has a good surface however if there as been rain recently be prepared for a few patches of softer ground. The track is a dirt track with natural windfall pine needles and leaves mixed it so good foot wear is helpful depending on weather conditions. The track is suitable for all family members, it is a track up a hill and only a covered shelter awaits at the top with awesome views.

Great little walk if you're in Hanmer Springs. Has a sheltered space with benches at the top. Lovely opportunity to take a moment to enjoy the view of the winter snowy mountains.
