KOJI JAPANESE RESTAURANT
Atmosphere and service was good. Sashimi, tataki and tempura were on point. Delicious! Hubby had the spicy karaage bento..it was interesting, and tasted like Korean gojuchang. I had the salmon bento, everything on it was delicious but the salmon..I found it very dry and over cooked. The kids had the prawn sushi roll and enjoyed that followed with a bowl of green tea ice cream. Would be back for the sashimi, sushi roll, tempura and tataki next time.

Ate here last night for my husband's birthday, and it was a great choice! Plus they were kind enough to take us without reservations.He had the yakiudon with chicken, which he describes as really good!" Thanks to a big late lunch

Nice place that really tries to provide authentic, good Japanese food. With very nice staff, it creates a nice atmosphere. There is an izakaya upstairs, providing more room.The food was really good and fair priced.we would come back again, but... it's Invercargill...

Authentic tasty Japanese food. We called ahead and reserved a table. They were quite busy, but the food came out promptly. Lots of variety on the menu, from Donburi, Udons, Bentos and Sashimi. Takeaway available as well. Highly recommended when in Invercargill

I have eaten Japanese in a few countries, including Japan. Koji is probably in the top ten Japanese restaurants in New Zealand. Restaurant was super busy but food came pretty fast. Staff were really professional. Food was amazing.

Koji is a must try if you are fan of raw salmon and crispy chicken.Green tea ice cream is a game changer.Serve size is pretty good according to price.Worth the money

I have dined at Koji many times over the years however this is our second time not being served where we had to leave. Tried to make a reservation for 7:30pm and no response.. called later on and made a reservation for 8pm - once we had arrived shortly after 8 we were seated and there was no other service: We waited till 8:35 and left as the restaurant shuts at 9pm. I understand times are busy and staffing shortages are a real issue, but the two waitresses seemed to be standing at the front counter talking. And another customers had come in after us and were served right away. Not exactly the most approachable staff either and didn’t feel comfortable going to the front and asking for them to take our order.
