Ara Roa Villa and Boutique Lodgings

The Glasshouse is a very special place indeed and we feel privileged to have experienced such an amazing spot on NZ’s coastline. The chef prepared meals were delicious and always looked forward to. Looking forward to our next big milestone celebration when we will be back!

The Glasshouse- The perfect private villa for a couples getaway. Everything had been thought of. Susanne was helpful right from the moment we booked with information and organising things such as massages, and a personal chef. The bed was comfortable and while there were blinds to use, the place is so private, we opted to leave them up and just enjoy the stars as we fell asleep, then be woken by the birds and sunrise. The views of the ocean and trees, unparalleled. Whilst the bathroom was a tiny walk through the garden, it was worth it for the ability to shower with even closer views in complete privacy. We enjoyed the beanbags in front of the outdoor fireplace. Everything has been thought of. A truly special place for you and your loved one to get away and just be spoilt and spend time together.

Wouldn’t recommend booking here to anyone, owner was very rude and cancelled our booking for no justifiable reason. We were planning to stay here after our wedding with our parents, we are 30 and they are in their 60s. We were asked to pay an unreasonable amount security deposit for being ‘untrustworthy’ because we didn’t contact them prior to booking to let them know this would be AFTER our wedding, we asked if we would be able to have a brunch with 15 older family members the next morning and that was not allowed so we happily agreed to cancel that. We were happy to comply with any rules they had and they still cancelled. Appalling customer service especially for a luxury stay.

Amazing location and the house was one of the best I have stayed in. Amazing views and lots of fantastic places to visit very close to the house. Hosts were great to deal with, very professionall.

Our family enjoyed a weekend at Cliff House - accommodating our 3 adult children, partners & our 3 infant grandchildren. Cliff House was a wonderful & spacious venue for this gathering. We then had a further 6 nights at Te Huia - to rest & relax & it was absolutely perfect! Both places very well-equipped and comfortable. With thanks again to Susanne & Paul.

We stayed a couple of nights at Te Kahu with family which was absolutely stunning. Straight away your eyes are drawn to breath taking views over the hills across to the estuary and sea. We loved the different outdoor areas and the house is positioned to get plenty of light. We enjoyed watching all the native birds playing outside, and most of all the peace and quiet. The hosts were lovely, and the dinner we had catered in was divine. We will definitely be back in future.

We had a great stay at Ara Roa (Te Kahu House), and it was in the middle of winter! Te Kahu provides a great space for sharing and yet you can still feel like you have your quiet spot without being isolated. We love the large kitchen with 2 ovens - we (including the kids) did a bit of cooking especially when the weather was suited more for the indoors. It's a great place to stay and also a great base to explore Whangarei Heads - we enjoyed our walks and checking out many of the beaches in the area. We'll be back!

This place was remarkable. The beautiful drive through the forested acreage was such a special way to arrive. The home we stayed in was cozy and well-designed. The property was gorgeous. A short walk to the beach and lots of exploring to do on the property. Paul was incredibly kind and welcoming and was kind enough to show us around the property.
