Guthrie Park Bike track
At the lnception of I-ways created by John Key's, I was not impressed with tax layers being spent on these creations. I was completely wrong. It has in my opinion been one of the best things done. These kind of bike ways accessible by all create a healthy way of interacting with nature. I can't think of anything better in a world dominated by the automobile bubble. Liberate yourselves and enjoy....

Really good BMX bike track for kids. Some events are held here and they will bring in stalls selling food at these times. The rest of the time it is pretty empty, so good for young kids wanting to practice without the crowds. Water fountain for drinking available and regularly cleaned toilets. There is an obstacle course about 50m away with a couple of swings to play on too. Walk over the river to Guthrie Park (one part of the river furthest away from the carpark is able to be waded through - ankle deep), or drive around in the car.

The track has been built/ fully funded and maintained by the volunteers of Hawkes Bay BMX club.The Hawkes Bay BMX club lease the land from the city council.No rate/tax payer money was used.The club reserve the right to close the track for maintenance, training and racing.During summer Training is Monday nights. Racing Wednesday.Winter racing is on Sundays.Please respect the track surface as a lot of volunteer hours go into maintaining it.

Great park overall but there are many people walking their dogs off leash.The park is a dog on-leash park.Hopefully the council will adress this before a child getts mauled
