Bay of Islands Holiday Apartments and Campervan Park

If you are camping then avoid this place like the plague. We have a normal size family tent and were greeted with utter amazement on check-in that the website specified 2 and 3-man tents. The on-line booking facility does not specify such restrictions - if it did then we wouldn't have booked.In the end, we were sandwiched between a tree (preventing rear-side access) and the next tent. the gap between the two tents was less than 2 Metres, with guy ropes under the fly sheets of each other's tents.The Manager at check-in said there was No Problem" but there bloody well was! This was no way to enjoy a holiday

Stayed for 3 nights. Very convenient location close to supermarket and town. HUGE showers but have to pay $2 for a short shower which we didn’t know until after we parked and set up the behemoth van so had to go back out to get change. Only one working bbq. Very helpful site manager.

Unlike some of the recent posts, we had a great experience at Bay of Islands Campervan Park. It is a small site, beautifully landscaped, with olive trees between each bay. Efficiently run by Jan, the owner, who knows the area well and helped with tour bookings - she even offered to drive us down to town to pay for the tour. It is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk to the center of Paihia and Waitangi - very convenient. The communal area was very clean and there was good wifi. I am giving a 4 rating only because of the limited facilities compared to other campsites we stayed at (no kitchen, showers chargeable - though it didn't affect us as we were in a self contained van) and the noise from the main road (though the road goes through the center of town as well.) We looked at the Waitangi HP as well but chose this one for its compact size. Very pleased we did.

We stayed in the campervan park March 2023, loved our stay a tidy place with a nice spot nestled amongst mature olive trees. Pet friendly, nice staff and good amenities. We will definitely stay again.

I wouldn't recommend staying here, we came here for holiday and not to listen to a rude manager barking her commands out on us. Also, considering the price we paid, there's no kitchen space and you have to pay 2$ for hot water. Showers and toilets weren't very clean either.To sum it up:Positive:-good location close to shops-nice environment-fast wifi-pet friendlyNegative:-rude and bad-mannered manager-not very clean facilities-tent area is not very spacious-no kitchen (only kettle & toaster)-no fridge/freezer

Very narrow parking for larger Motorhomes. Asked about the larger sites up top and was told they had just been sprayed and were booked, yet we saw on a few nights out of our 5 nights stay, that much smaller vans got placed there?! No kitchen and just 4 toilets and 2 showers open at the time we stayed. Didn't seemed to get cleaned either. The BBQ area was also closed during our stay. Manager was not very helpful. Would not recommended this place and would not return either. Should have picked on the Waitangi Holiday Park by the river....looked a lot more spacious.

I would give 5 stars but the weather spoilt it for us and shortened our stay. The campsite was clean and well organised, facilities were very clean and well maintained. The site had lovely olive trees giving you shade or shelter. Would highly recommend .

The sites were very narrow, not ideal especially as we were there for Christmas and would have liked to be able to sit outside properly instead of tucked behind our caravan.We had to leave a day early due to an emergency with work commitments, tried calling to tell them and tried emailing but no reply to this day. We left at 6.45am a day early but no refund for the night we weren't there, $84 down the drain. A bit unfair considering they weren't fully booked.Also bathrooms we're dirty the whole time and showers are $2 a shower. No kitchen was a surprise.Not worth the money that's for sure!! $84 a night and very basic.

The view was not bad, stay overall ok, but very very rude woman at the front desk. Looked like she hated the job she was doing and also all the customers. After she left for the day (~6pm) we found out that the tumble dryer was gladly accepting $2 coins but not working and there was no gas in a BBQ stove grill. When we tried to call the number left at the reception desk the same woman told us to stop complaining and calling her. We had to drive and buy some gas ourselves. Very unsatisfied with customer service..

Not suitable for tents. The area designated for tents is among the fruit trees, sites are tiny, ground is uneven, ground is hard resulting in difficulty putting in tent pegs, plus trying to work around fruit trees.We had so many problems trying to put tent pegs into the ground we asked to move to another site but manager wasn’t very impressed with this suggestion, we moved anyway.No communal kitchen, only BBQs available for cooking and no fridge available. This is not mentioned on website.Showers were $2 each and were dirty, again this was not mentioned on the website.Facilities for doing dishes are outside which is not ideal in wet weather.Finally we couldn’t drive our car to our tent site and had to carry everything across orchard from our car to camp. Plus there was not enough parking for all the people camping there and the sites weren’t all full.Would not stay here again. Paying decent money per night while only get basic DOC campground facilities in return. Definitely not bang for buck.
