We visited today with intentions of doing a decent length walk but the tracks were very muddy so we just stopped a small way up at the little awesome lake as pictured. It's worth doing even for just the smallest walk, I'm sure going up the mountain would be great too. You can also do the walk all the way to Kerosene Creek although we just drove to that separately.

The carpark is OK - not particularly secure or scenic. However the sights nearby and the walking/mtb track (for which this carpark is the teialhead) is superb!

Steep walk to the top but worth it. The crater lakes at the start of the walk are excellent and breathtaking a great stop on the highway. The walk says 1.5hour each way but we managed up in and hour and down in 45. The view from the top was great to give you some perspective of the area

This is a great walk. The second half at the top is steep and in wet conditions slippery. But the view you have from the top rewards every effort.The walk from the carpark brings you to the lake and then slowly climbs up the mountain. After a km it starts getting more steep and exhausting. For some may be challenging. The forest varies from Native NZ trees to a more Manuka forest amd at the top again a mix of different native plants.

This walk is a good one if you want to see the surrounding area from up high. It starts off easy enough and only becomes steep towards the very top.There is a clay section of the track which would be very slippery when wet. So watch out for that area.Only a couple of places on the way up where you can see things. Otherwise you could be anywhere.

Crater Lake look out point currently closed for safety reasons.Otherwise a bit steep but pretty ferns
