Very poorly cleaned. But we're able to cook .very old . Difficult to access shower, door opening wrong way..

Colonial Inn Motel
Basic, cost-effective accommodation 20 minutes walk from the city. Noisy neighbours audible from other rooms or neighbouring properties sometimes late into the night. Door keyhole/lock needing maintenance, one window not closing, and bedding not made on servicing, also some Netflix issues. The hotel manager took me to the hospital after having an accident in the room overnight - with no car and travelling alone this was very kind and am very grateful for his conscientiousness.

So disappointed with the conditions of the this room. As much as it was great with the bed configuration in the rooms, the dirt and lack of cleaning was in every room. So very disappointed.Yes towels were clean, bed made fresh but the cupboards where dishes were kept were old and dirty. The cobwebs were everywhere. The photos were oblivious taken in its hay day, as they were certainly no reflection of the current state. Updated the photos please.

Close to town but the motel is the pits. Mouldy net curtains, broken latches on mould rotten windows, extremely damp, kitchenette looked like inside cupboards had never been wiped, food in the toaster, mouldy rotting shower cubicle, nearly everything old, dated, rotting or in poor condition…..I suppose I got what I paid for…..cheap. Did expect a level of cleanliness, but I would say the cleaners would be pushing sh1t uphill with what they have to work with. Looks like place should be bowled. Neighbours banged around from midnight onwards. NOT recommend this place to anybody.

Had a wonderful stay here. My partner and I moved down to Christchurch so I can study at the university. We had nowhere to go and Colonial Inn offered us longterm accommodation.The staff were very welcoming and understanding of our situation. We are so grateful for the team. It's also really close to city center and bus stops nearby for anyone visiting.10/10 recommend. Would definitely stay again if we move and come back to visit one day. Good affordable accommodation and lovely staff members.

We stayed for 8 nights here and it was great. The staff were very nice and helpful. With a relatively affordable price, we got complete facilities. It’s hard to find a room with private bathroom and kitchen within the price range. The room was warm and relatively clean. They offered to clean the room every day.

Overall, for a family of 5 for the 3 bedroom apartment we stayed in was great for the size and the price!!Obviously the photos are a little misleading as clearly the apartment is very dated and needed a huge makeover and a lot of things upgraded etc. . Like clean cups, cutlery etcThe cleanliness could of been better.We were a bit disappointed not having our room serviced, once we returned, none of the beds had been made, only thing we noticed had been done was fresh towels and face cloths.The bedding was very stiff and uncomfortable, really would make a difference having thicker warmer beddingBut overall, it was cheap and a huge apartment more a family.

This would be the most disgusting motel We have ever stayed in. I called the caretaker and showed our complaints. 1 hairs in the utensils draw. Dirty window latches and sills, burnt bench and floor. The bathroom was the absolute worst we have experienced with mould all over the shower unit thick.As the bathroom windows vanity had a rusty thing blocking a hole. There were hole at the door to the shower and you could see where the water took ages to drain was seeping into the wall.I proceeded to the nearest shop purchase some cleaning materials and proceeded to remove as much as possible. The office was discussing and not a welcoming site our Over Seas TouristsHaving been a Motel owner for 12 years I personally was appalled. When asked to speak to the owner I was advised they were in China.When I asked if our room could be cleaned was told they didn't have enough clraners to do it but they would change our towels. In the lounge I'm unsure when then windows inside and out had been cleaned in the past 6 months I doubt it the net curtain was ripped in the middle and black across the bottom from midway down.Had we not arrived late and had time to check the unit we wouldn't have stayed.After the caretaker asked me what did we want to do how could she fix things I asked fir money back which she didOn the Saturday night there was ahumdinger of a party going on not ending until 5am consequently no sleep. Again badfor our overseas visitors and nobody attempted to quite it downIf you read this stay well clear even with a discount you risk breathing issues or other infectionLocation was all it had going for itThe whole place needs completely renovating. What an embarrassmentPLEASE SOMEONE DO A COMPLETE INSPECTION URGENTLY BEFORE SUMMER HOLIDAYSI do have a complete set of photos if requested.

You get what you pay for. It’s very tired, desperately needs redecorating and a new mattress! But it was nice and cheap, staff were friendly.
