Professional, Good Fair Quote, Prompt Follow Up, Good Communication, Excellent Workmanship. I contacted Maca Brothers for a roof quote and Lawrence responded on the same day, and came to the house the next day. We had a quote within a few days. So far, really great follow up. In terms of the quote, it was very competitive and significantly cheaper than about 3 of the other quotes. Good and fair price. The Roofing process was amazing as his staff and crew are extremely professional. The outside of the house was always tidy when they left, they were friendly and professional. Lawrence was able to stick to the timeline and the roof itself is absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond the call of duty in terms of our gutters, they were a disaster and he fixed them. Plus, we had some very dangerous rotten areas in the roof which they fixed. Maca are the utmost professionals, fair, communication is amazing! Plus, they really know their product, they roof is beautiful and expertly constructed. Plus, they used all the necessary safety measures necessary. We are so happy with our roof, and the service from Maca.

Our roof had been leaking in one of the bedrooms, so I called Maca Brothers. Within a day or so, Lawrence called around, assessed the roof, took photos and then gave a quote. I got two more quotes - one suggested patching the roof up for $10k less than Maca Brothers (but refused to give a written quote) and the other quoted $8k more for the same product. I went with Maca Brothers and the scaffolding was put up, the materials arrived and the team were on the job within the promised timeframe. It was quickly apparent we had made the right decision to replace rather than patch the roof - the old iron had rusted away under the flashing and water had been leaking into the roof cavity - see the pics. The new roof looks amazing and the team was professional and friendly. I appreciated Lawrence's no-fuss, can-do attitude - he was easy to talk to and communicated really well. If you want a quality job done at a great price, I highly recommend Maca Brothers.

These guys may be good builders but that's not my experience. They were punctual but they were very expensive for what they did. Cost $260 to fix flashing around chimney. All they did was squirt some silicone around affected area. Had to get someone else to finish job who was cheaper and repaired the problem in 1 visit.

Not only was the quote I got from Maca Brothers significantly better than other companies' but they made the experience very easy. We were finally the next project in line for them as New Zealand went into lockdown in March 2020, but the work started up as soon as we moved out of Level 4. Despite having to juggle a 4-week backlog of work and approaching winter, the work was done faster than I'd dared hope for and to what certainly looks like fantastic quality work. I highly recommend this business - it's stressful to have to worry about an old and leaky roof every time there's a storm but we can definitely sleep well at night now, knowing also that we have protected our investment for what is, in context, not much money at all.

My wife and I obtained quotes from far too many roofing contractors before selecting Maca Brothers, who were one of the few who seemed competently prepared to replace both our corrugated roof and the wooden gable ends of the house with Colorsteel, also with new spouting, all at a reasonable cost and at our rural location West of Upper Hutt. Whereas most of the roofing contractors that we contacted weren't prepared to take on more than a straightforward roof replacement.Although the weather and some crew injuries delayed the start date a bit, Lawrence and his team got the scaffolding up and started work on the roof as quickly as possible. The Colorsteel and roofing fabric had already arrived from the factory on a large flatbed with a crane. The Maca Brother crew, who are all employed by the company, no contractors, were very careful to ensure that roofing that was removed was replaced immediately to avoid problems with rain. This all went smoothly, including boxing-in of our concrete chimney to provide a good seal, which Lawrence suggested. The guys were also careful to shift the antenna mast that provides all of our rural connectivity to a temporary position so that we didn't even have a break in service. Next the wooden gable ends were removed and replaced with vertical Coloursteel. This was clearly quite a complex process to measure and cut all of the pieces to fit well and to ensure that the Colorsteel flashings made everything watertight.There had been a slight misunderstanding on the barge boards over the gable ends, which we thought were also being covered with flashing, whereas Lawrence had not quoted for that. However he immediately agreed to cover them, with us just paying a little extra for the Colorsteel at cost price. Finally the spouting went up. On one side of the house this is being used to harvest rain water from the roof as a major source of water for the house to supplement our spring. Again Lawrence was very helpful in devising a solution to shift the water around a difficult corner to the end of the house ready to be piped into the large water tank there. Despite rain and wind stopping play on quite a few days, the guys persevered to complete the job in good time.The roof and gables look fantastic now, pictures attached (I need to add one at least of the vertical Colorsteel gable ends in cloud colour). I've been up on the roof to fix up a security camera mast and have to say everything looks very well finished. Lawrence kept us informed by e-mail what was happening at all times, including when the guys would be here and when they wouldn't, usually due to the weather. It was also a very friendly team, who in some respects we were sorry to see go! We would definitely use Maca Brothers again and can certainly recommend them for steel roofing, including not so straightforward jobs and associated work.
